I'm a full blooded Filipino and grew up in Malaysia, there people would often say that I don't take things seriously and am always joking, when we went home to the Philippines for good, people would often say that I was too serious. Big culture shock haha. It was some time (years) later that I realized that we live life in the moment. Extracting the most from everyday and every experience. That's one reason why everything is also a photo op moment. Being Filipino is a state of mind that affects your view of the world. Without realizing it, the two of you are becoming assimilated Filipinos. Yayyy!!! 😀😁🤗

Tampo means she or he will not talk to you or ignore you, the reason is maybe there are things that you forgot to remember like monthsary or anniversary or birthday or anything that makes them feel they are being neglected or not giving value .., then they will make tampo... All you have to do is be extra sweet with them, hug them, kiss them, or cook for them everything that can make them feel special wanted and love 😍

Tampó, in Filipino culture, refers to a behavior in which a person withdraws his or her affection or cheerfulness from a person who has hurt his or her feelings. In English "sulking" or "to sulk" is often considered the closest translation of tampo and there is also the term the silent treatment.

The reason why filipino families are so big is because it is a very large extended family with close ties and even with family friends which would also be considered as part of the family because of the belief of everyone is family.

Tampo is same with sulking but it's a bit lighter. Everyone in every age do feel this when you are a Filipino, and most of the time Filipino female elders do feel this frequently. Example when you are in a family gathering and you accidentally did not notice your lola or your tita but you already noticed everyone in the room. That's the reason they will make tampo for you. But it can be easily reconciled, just bring them or give them pasalubong just to give an assurance that you always thought of them. 😁😊😊

Filipinas are usually the ones who make "tampo." The men do it, too, but it doesn't last long since Filipinas notice the low vibration right away and fix it. It definitely would not last "8 hours" for the men. Lol. Women are more emotionally intelligent and thoughtful, in general. Tampo could be misconstrued as passive aggresive by Westerners, but it is not to Filipinos. It actually trains our men to be more thoughtful without being confrontational. (And, Filipino men are a lot more thoughtful and sweeter than any other race I have had the opportunity to observe up close.) We do tampo with our parents and friends, too. And, maybe that's why we are not lacking on emotional support and connection. Being demanding, or confrontational are frowned upon. Instead, tampo gives the other person a chance to ask why we aren't happy, and to fix it. I hope this helps.
