Bishop Memorial Library was the library of choice but the county library you showed was about three blocks away. The Community Theater was near TRHSS. I went to North, but I remember when there were only two high schools Tom's River and Saint Joes.. I was on the Silverton First Aid Squad and was in the Halloween Parade TWICE.

Not "everybody" is leaving and the crime is not as high as you suggest but taxes and insurance, as our esteemed Governor Murphy proclaimed, "if taxes are a problem for you, we're not your state."

@@JimFlanagan-TomsRiverRealtor I know Jim, not literally everybody but a large number of residents have left. Especially people who are on fixed incomes and residents who are tired of getting nickel and dimed to death. As far as crime goes the bail reform and soft on crime politics have driven crime rates up all over the state. I can attest to this first hand. Burglaries and stolen car rates have exploded in the state. Born and raised in NJ I used to love this state, but no more. Everybody I know that has moved from NJ, say they love it and are never coming back. 👋🏻. I got 2 more years here. Taking my pension and Social Security and saying good bye. Oh and many states do not tax your pension. 😎🌊🏖🐠🏄🏼‍♂️⛳️

You drank polluted water from Toms River Chemical Corp. The water company removed the taste and smell but left the chemicals. Leaving Toms River and NJ was the best thing I ever did.

My family had a summer house there on Dover Road. I miss it. :( When I sell my property in NYC, I want a summer home there. Just not near the highway. I remember walking to the store and there wasn't much of a sidewalk and too many trucks whizzing by.

Hi Natalia! Did you make it to DOODZ? Right now (Fall), the best places to visit (and possibly hike) would be the parks of Toms River; Cattus Island, Winding River, Riverwood and Island Beach State Park (technically in South Seaside Park). As for Winter, I'll have to give that some thought and possibly record a video!

Here's how you can tell I lived there. The Halloween Parade is done on Halloween night, so they would allow kids to get their candy the night before. And I remember watching " The Cat From Outer Space " at the old community theatre. I lived in South Toms River when The Ocean County Observer used to print their papers in a building across the street from Huddy Park. That was back whenthere was a motel at the intersection across the street from Huddy Park. I moved to Florida about a year after they filmed Amityville 3.

With the exception of town hall and the court house, downtown is 100% different than when I was growing up. All the original stores and shops are gone. King Kustard and the original TR Diner (my old neighborhood ) are gone too. There are many examples of change to be found.

Downtown toms river is ZERO, there is nothing there! Go to downtown Phoenix and you will see how to create a town that draws you in

Had bad experience there... walked in all excited to try them. Looked over at the table with the toppings, seen a few spoons for multiple toppings... I told them myself and my son have peanut allergies. The response was very cocky... saying well, u can have the plain donuts... I then responded” can you make me some separate, I’ll pay extra” they said “like I said u can can plain” that’s it.... I walked out, never looked back. Sorry not sorry. That pisses me off, they have no idea how hard it is to live with the allergies we have .whatever

They've always been reasonable with my son's allergy, though that may have been a previous owner. Best to play it safe and stick with the simple toppings. High risk of cross contamination. Rich's ice cream which is great recommends only getting sprinkles because they are stored in a separate bag/location.

Would like to see you walk past the Toms River Seaport Society & Museum on the hill at the corner of Hooper and Water St. A lot of nautical history there, I think open to the public daily. "If you lived in TR" you'll know they host the Summer Seaport Festival in Huddy Park July 31, 2021, a big downtown TR event.

I went to South, had lunch for 3 periods a day downtown. I miss Joe's Pizza, Frankies, The Sweet Shop. Skipping class and sneaking out D-wing and hanging out downtown all day. You East kids may have had your fancy new school with air conditioning but we were allowed off-campus.

I lived in Toms River from 1965 to 1990. I drank chemical laden water courtesy of the Toms River Water Company and Toms River Chemical and the Wrights Farm illegal chemical dump. I am so glad that I left NJ and Toms River in 1990. Thank you for the video.
