Indeed. Most people, as a sign of their years-long deep friendship with someone, refer to them in the absolute most generic way possible. ESPECIALLY right after "the guy" had been murdered. When the defense opening statement said she was the victim of being framed for murder (she wasn't just not guilty, or even innocent, but framed), I thought that was an INSANE claim to make.
