The RNLI is there to save people who are in peril at sea around our coast and not there to go and 'rescue' people who have intentionally put themselves at risk in order to be rescued and deposited into our country. The RNLI should 'rescue' these people and deposit them back on French soil as that is where they were safe before they got into the inflatable boat.

Councils have been surcharged in the past [Liverpool] for misspending money and eventually those individual counsellors were held personally liable for the misuse of public funds. Is it now a case that the Rwanda scheme which was held as illegal on so many bases falls into the misspending of public funds? Either the Tory government are liable for the costs individually and severally OR the incoming Labour government who have cancelled the scheme should be held responsible for the loss. Whoever was allowed to legally pursue the Liverpool case should surely pursue the Conservative and Labour actions of such profligacy. They should be held financially accountable, even those who lost their seats. There should be no protection against maladministration or failures in public office. Governments must learn that it is OUR money and not theirs.
