Great episode, really spoke to me. I live alone, I eat breakfast, lunch & dinner alone, got the bad news about cancer alone, & I go to chemo treatments alone. But I know I’m not really alone, there are angels around me all the time. I can feel the Lord’s presence & I can feel when angels are around me. When I feel a little down I watch a few OLE videos and that always makes me feel better.

My dearest friend died on July 4th. Two weeks later in some kind of thought sent to me when I was asleep, she said “ there’s quite a fellowship here.” I knew nothing about Swedenborg til a week later, when I stumbled across him and OTLE. How perfect was this? It changed my belief that there is an Afterlife instantly. But-my friend suffered from cancer, and I had to watch and accompany her to the end. While she is happy now, I in contrast feel Godforsaken. The ill one finds release, and the witness is left traumatized. This is hard to reconcile. Maybe I will find something in Swedenborg that speaks to this.

Hi Randy -- I think you're not alone in feeling alone. Such a rampant feeling these days, it seems. But my heart goes out to you for it. This series is walking through the book "Heaven and Hell (HH)." Curtis is in HH §44 in this show, I think. The chapter about Marriage in HH is §§366 to 386 -- so it'll be a while till Curtis gets there! And actually, I'm not sure how much HH talks about the "finding each other" part. I think that is in Swedenborg's book "Marriage Love." But we do have our old shows about it! Maybe this playlist will give you some ideas. kzbin.info/aero/PLgtFTXGqZdSnVm6megbrsgDh8sMPeW9Bo. (And we did a few shows using the term "twin flames" just to catch a different mindset about it. You could swap in "soulmates" for that term, or "eternal partner," or whatever.) Blessings to you, Randy!

I've heard some of what Swedenborg has to say on and off for a couple of decades. I appreciate that you illustrated his findings with us using figurines. That was helpful. Over the past 20 years I've been reading and listening to NDEs and on the main, they describe heaven similarly to Swedenborg. It seems there are levels in heaven and those who are in the higher levels can visit the levels below them. There are communities in heaven who sing praises to the Lord together and other communities who choose a more city-like existence where they have careers. Many NDErs say that when they cross over they are greeted by a community of souls who are like themselves and want to know what they had experienced and learned during their lifetime. These other souls feel like pieces of themselves that are connected to them.
@offTheLeftEye Жыл бұрын
It's been powerful seeing the ways NDEs have aligned with what Swedenborg experienced, websurfer. Many similarities, and yet each one seems to have something unique for the experiencer. So, before I go into the details of Ziewe's "story", I would start by saying, that he represents 1:1 the opinion of the Hindus, that was described in the text about regeneration you sent me after my first comment. (Thanks again! I really appreciate it!) He claims to have had Out-Of-Bodies-Experiences since the 70s and was since then discovering the...he calls it Afterlife, Swedenborg calls it World of Spirits where he was to look around and realize where he was. So, however, after this, he started to learn things. The major one thing, that Ziewe and Swedenborg have in common in their beliefs is that after we die, we first get into an environment that represents our inner self. For example, if you're a really mean, patriot, selfish person, you will likely live in an environment which is pretty dark and cold and there's very little light and houses with no windows and stuff. However, if you're in a positive state of mind, very loving and caring for others and happy, you will likely live in an environment which is very warm and beautiful and the sun shines and so on. I could go more into detail here, but now I want this first time point out something different. -> See in the answers, this comment is getting a little bit too long...😅
@silbi_der4te_Gaming Жыл бұрын
So, in his Out-Of -Body-Experiences, the one person that was always around was his mother. However, one day he asked her where his father was. And by looking in her eyes he knew they sort of lost contact, so he "shouted out" the question; "Where-is-my-father?!" And then he was taken to a farmyard in, what he identified as Russia on the physical Earth. There he saw two boys, one about 8 and the other one about 10 years old. However the Astral Body kind of stopped doing anything, looked at him and asked: "Jürgen...?" And by this experience he realized for him, that reincarnation indeed is a thing that's happening. For months, this made me really confused and also triggered a kind of...how should I put this...not depression, if you know what I mean, but it's the word that's the closest that describes my state of mind at the time. (It was about the end of February until the end of March) Then I got notice of your channel and Swedenborg's beliefs. They really made me calm down from this and I would love to believe it but right now, I don't really know, because of my confusion who's "right" and who's "wrong". Because of this, I tried OBEs too, but then I realised that this was a really stupid idea because of my confusion, too. So to end this comment, I would like to ask you, what you think, what I will encounter if I have an Out-of-Body-Experience and what I'll be able too see, feel and learn. Thanks! 😊😉
@offTheLeftEye Жыл бұрын
Interesting stuff, Silbersittich. Of course we have no way of knowing what kind of OBE you might have. Though there seem to be some similar threads in OBEs and NDEs, there are also such individual pieces that seem unique to the experiencer. It seems that those experiences are part of the tailor-made spiritual journey that God is leading us all on. And the same goes for our experiences in everyday life in this plane. There are lots of different theories about what happens after our body dies. There's no way to prove any of it, but we'll all find out eventually. One way to approach that unknowable fact might be to just live in the present, right now, bringing as much heavenly energy as we can to each moment -- choosing love and service and kindness and compassion and joy. And then those moments will lead us forward. Sending prayers of peace to you as you deal with this inner turmoil. Blessings!

@@offTheLeftEye Thank you so much! Next week, I would like to tell you about Ziewe's breaking through into higher states of conciousness because this is the last thing which I can't explain to myself with the ideas of Swedenborg. For now, I'll be trying OBEs again and if you want, I could report those then! (Sorry, reading my own comments, I realised I could improve my English expressions, I'm not a native speaker.) Blessings to the OTLE-Team from me too!😊

@silbi_der4te_Gaming Жыл бұрын
@@offTheLeftEye Well, yes and no. You can cause an OBE by intense meditation. For example if you focus on your inner sight and hearing. After a short (or long😅) time you get into a hypnagogic state which at some point comes to a standstill. Your physical body is now asleep but your astral body is still awake and free to explore the other world(s)!😄 That‘s what I learned from videos, partially in my language.

Been pondering this and ran across Swedenborg's writings to the effect that those who deliberately choose to live apart from others in this life end up as these bitter hermits on the other side, ascribing their motives to selfishness. They also have a jealous belief that they were owed something better since they aren't remotely as happy as everyone else with communities, and are acutely aware of it, too. It terrifies me. I've never been able to fit into any community, and the older I've gotten, the worse it's been whenever I try. At first it was because nobody ever seemed to be on the same page with interests and other meaningless items, so it's easy to ascribe that to my own pettiness. But these days it's because no one seems to care the same way about the truly important things, sharing the same values, ethics and so on. That's already bad enough with frivolous groups such as those based around hobbies/interests. Spiritual communities like churches scare me to death because of doctrinal demands and groupthink over something as essential as one's own relationship with God. My experiences with Catholicism growing up and the zealousness of Catholic converts later in life really nailed that one shut. And that's all before fundamental questions about things like the validity or acceptability of same-sex relationships or simply being spiritual at all. I live in an extremely atheistic place and the vast majority of people I end up meeting online are very much secularized as well, but more often than not this means apathy or a complete misunderstanding of where I'm coming from, with some vicious opposition mixed in for good measure. It's hard for me to fathom what a spiritual community of "mine" would even look like by now. Worse, if that's a product of some defect or unaddressed evil on my own part, I'm not given to assume by Swedenborg's text that I'd even have one. When the world seems either indifferent or hostile at every turn, is it wrong to pull away from it just to stay intact? Jesus gave the direction to "be in the world but not of the world." How can I be "in" it without forcing myself to be "of" it at this rate? Life is really... complicated, isn't it? I'm glad at least some folks seem to have things figured out.
@offTheLeftEye Жыл бұрын
Complicated indeed, War Hawk. I (Chara) have discovered that I need to have some firm boundaries around my participation in the world (e.g., not watching the news), because it sends me into despair and hopelessness and powerlessness so fast -- and what good does that do? I try to have goodwill towards my neighbor, even when I have different opinions or can't take sides or am ignorant of the hot topics. And I try to just be a blessing in my immediate sphere of influence, my day-to-day, small-world, local interactions. I watched an interesting video lately imploring us to not be distracted by the horrors of this world so much that we forget to nurture our connection to the Divine and our relationships with the people in our lives. The ability to have our finger on the pulse of the entire world brings so much stress when there's nothing we can do to make a difference on the other side of the planet. So for me, it comes back to a "Think global, act local" kind of attitude. I trust that if we keep cultivating goodwill toward others, even "loving our enemies," and working on our relationship with our God, we WILL find our place of belonging in the other world -- even if in this world we need to maintain a distance from some people. I hear you, War Hawk, and I wish you peace and blessings and the ability to BE a blessing to others.

I'm so sorry for that heartache you're enduring, geegee. I like to think that "everybody" is right, but that doesn't remove the pull of your heart to wish you could have been with him. It feels right that everyone should have loved ones nearby as they transition into the next life. And if many deathbed testimonies are any evidence, it sounds like everyone DOES -- they're just loved ones on the other side! Here's an episode we did called "How Angels Take Care of Us When We Die" -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6PRnGpoq61qjdU. Perhaps you'll find a little comfort there. Sending prayers to your tender heart for peace.

Great episode! Do you guys have any episodes / material that really focus on the spatial aspects of the afterlife? Or, different types of distance from one another. Here's how I think it would work - let's start by looking at the map at 14:45. Let's say I am a resident of middle heaven. First of all, there has to be a normal sort of space / distance, like earth, otherwise everyone and everything would be smashed in the same space, right? Anyway, I want to go visit my friend Joe's house, who also lives in middle heaven. Can I choose to walk to his house? Can I 'teleport' to it? Let's say he lives 15 miles away, and I want to take a long scenic walk to this house. But, maybe a week from now, I'd rather get there quicker - can I teleport there, and be at his doorstep in a matter of seconds? If Joe happens to live in outermost heaven, then I imagine there would be no walking to his house, ever. I would think the only way to get there would be to 'mind shift' like is mentioned in this episode. I'll try and sum up - within a particular ring of heaven, etc., you'd have two different methods of travel - normal means of motion, and quicker thought based travel. To jump from one ring to another, you need to adjust your mental state in order to get there. Solely thought based, no distance involved, just time. What do you all think?

Hi Zach! I love that you are pondering all this. Swedenborg reports that though there is no fixed physical space and distance in the afterlife, there is the APPEARANCE of space and distance because otherwise, like you say, everything would be all smashed together and nothing could be individually experienced or accomplished. Spirits and angels certainly do both walk places and also teleport. Travel in the afterlife -- the method and experience of how long it takes -- are totally dependent on people's state of mind and desires, as you are correctly concluding! We have a whole show about this topic that may be helpful: "How To Travel in the Afterlife" kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2nRZJSke9BqmpY&t

I've always felt lonely in this world because my view of life always seems to differ from others'. (Me being interested Swedenborg's view of Christianity rather than current mainstream Christianity is one example.) The only person I truly feel I fit in with on this life is my wife, whom I love infinitely. But it also causes me intense fear constantly thinking of the frailty of human life... I can't help it. And even though I WANT to believe in life after death I'm always afraid of there being nothing..
@offTheLeftEye7 ай бұрын
I've heard many people say similar things, 36Kite36 -- they WANT to believe in a life after death, but they can't quite commit to the idea. Of course no one can prove the existence of life after death, so it comes down to a choice. Does it make you feel better about life to believe in a "hereafter," or does it make your life worse somehow? One thing some people do is pray for a stronger faith in the afterlife, pray for a deeper trust in God's path for us. We can't control the frailty of human life, but living fully in the moment, with a trust that LOVE is the realest thing and will pull us together again in the next life is what some people go on. Blessings to you as you find some way to sit with your faith and your frailty -- you're certainly not alone in dealing with this part of the human condition!

Hi, hoping you may have a reason to what I’ve been confused about. The day my mom passed away I was at hospital with my sons to be there with her. I kept talking to her , looking in her eyes, & holding her hand & she wouldn’t talk, respond, squeeze my hand. She look at me or in the room but not talk. Knowing my mom I’m sure she would have wanted to at least say something to her grandsons that she helped me raise. Just don’t understand. Went on about 16 hours before her heart stopped. Just horrible feeling.

My heart goes out to you for that difficult experience, Karen. I (Chara) have been with a few people when they died, but I'm no expert. My thought is that perhaps she was already primarily in the spiritual world. That is, her eyes may have been open, and her heart and lungs still working, but her CONSCIOUSNESS had already transitioned. She was perhaps seeing her spiritual surroundings at that time, and no longer tuned into her physical sensations and sensory input. It doesn't sound like she would have INTENDED to ignore you. Rather, her spirit had already moved on and her body was just trailing behind. Here's an episode called "How Angels Take Care of Us When We Die" -- kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6PRnGpoq61qjdU. Perhaps that will give you some more thoughts about what was going on with your dear mom. May that horrible feeling pass, and may you feel the confidence that she was already in God's hands, surrounded by angels. She was so blessed to have you and your sons with her as her body finished up her stay here. Sending prayers for peace to you!

@franklinfamulski8638 Жыл бұрын
@@offTheLeftEye well, I didn't I had much negative feelings lol umm what I mean by being on strike I guess would be keeping any spiritual duties to a bare minimum and possibly raising my standards way higher . plus I don't want to hear from lower level spirits being like oh you have to do this you have to do that and blaming me for things when really they haven't been doing a good job. because really when once I leave this place then I go to the the higher levels of heaven and say yeah they havenb't been doing what they are supposed to be doing. it's kind of like when you have a company and you need to know who represented the brand well in that case are they representing Jesus are people receiving grace are they receiving mercy. I mean that might not synch up with Swedenborg but I mean it's not like I wanted that purpose it was just given to me based on all the work I've done spiritually.

What if you never feel lonely on earth? What if solitude is a comfort rather than something that makes you sad? What if you find the company of nature, of animals to be preferred over the company of people? Not everyone is a "people person." What you describe about the spiritual world sounds kind of awful to me -- constant busy work surrounded by people every minute of every day.
@offTheLeftEyeАй бұрын
Seems to me there will be room for the introverts in the other world, Rabbits. And I don't think of the "usefulness" of people in heaven as "busywork," but rather some soul-nourishing contribution to the welfare of your surrounding community. Maybe you'll be a gardener, or you'll care for animals, or you'll be a writer -- or some other contribution that doesn't require crowds and social interaction. Also, Swedenborg paints a nice picture of doing our "jobs" in the morning, having recreational time in the afternoon, and home time in the evenings. Does that sound more do-able?

Those who live a single life are uncomfortable before God’s original will. Those of us who practice birth control and declare they will not have children will go to the other world and face the words of judgment: “Through our sons and daughters, God wanted to send the prince and princess that would govern the universe!” Once we pass into the spirit world, these things will be known in an instant. We would come to know of this in a moment. God was trying to bring blessings to our generation and tribe through the merits of our ancestors who had worked hard through thousands and tens of thousands of years of bitter painful history. Yet, we were the one who cut off that channel.

We can't make judgments of anyone for the choices they make, pierre. Only God knows the inner motivations, and that's between the person and their God. Divine Providence works in many ways that we may not understand.
