Dumbledore was a complex person. he is about 80% good and 20% bad. and it was the 20% bad in him that brought about the defeat of voldomort. He was an extremely manipulative person. he used snaps crush on Lilly to bring Snape on his side. He basically spent probably the last 46 years of his life working towards defeating Voldemort. i suspect most of the events of book and mabey 2 were to test and train the golden trio. If it was not for Dumbledore. harry would ether have been killed early on. or spent his entire life in hiding. It was Dumbledore who put harry in a position to defeat Voldemort. None of us are a 100% good. we all have flaws. Dumbledore certainly had them.
