I live in New Orleans and go out to dinner with my husband once a week for a "date". I find that I get tired of trying to decide where to eat, especially when I am very hungry. If I have breakfast and lunch before my husband gets home, it is so much easier!!! And when I have to make dinner (yeah I love food) after cooking for my family for over 45 years, I am think i have decision fatigue! But if i sit down and make out a weekly menu before grocery shopping, it is so much easier!

I find this really interesting, it's actually opened my eyes up to how some of the closest people to me react. I understand and respect the beauty of individuality and that we all can't think the same way. We all react differently and it's amazing, but the way Jay explains this goes that one step further and connects the dots. I'm fascinated by this analogy, if one person, multiple scenarios, same genetics, same physical being except for an adjustment of their place of birth or their school or their friends/family, for instance, was different. How would this affect their decision making? Are you who you are from birth/childhood installed into us that shapes our future or is the power of influence always around us, meaning we can change a full 360 at any time?

Dear Jay I only discovered you today and I am glad. I totally agree with you on suffering fatigue on a daily basis but life tends to give us some situations that may be difficult to organize our own life and there for our decisions. For 8 years now, first my father was sick and I move to my parents house to take care of him. Then he died and I organized my mother s life and returned to my house. It has been 6 years now. She is 93 now and a difficult person. So my decisions are never quite organized. Every day is a challenge. I do really suffer from fatigue decision because my life is um predictable and I am not able to do what I like to or feel like to. I feel very tired and not motivated. So this is a different fatigue. It s what it what can I do. Any advice? Thank you for listening. Grace from Portugal

So many huge choices lately. My divorce was final last week and this week a college course ended. I need to decide several other things in the next few days. I am a school teacher with 2 kids. Do I take summer school and stay with my graduating class and work a summer job, or be home with my two kids. I feel like I should work in order to afford summer with my kids, summer camps, etc. But it’s either I work really hard this summer and take a college course or I stay worried about finances and having to tell my kids no this summer because I won’t have enough money. Decisions.

"If you are making decisions under stress, that will tire that little person in your head..." That does make sense. So how does one organise one's life as to reduce or eliminate stress? I find constant stress relating to money. I have massive difficulty making money & must live a very low quality life to live within that. Being under constant money stress, I cannot figure a way to get out of that stress to make better decisions. It seems I am in an endless loop of this.

People always stand with power. Your are respected based on how powerful you or your family is in the society. But know what , power is perceived different in different societies... Its not always same for every society. Its subjective to the society we live in. But, however the society perceives as either you as powerful or powerless, wherever you live in. you have to stand for yourself and your dreams. That is where you are respecting yourself and your dreams. Believe in your dreams. Your great path is ahead. Just comeout of the so called societal notion and perceive the world as whole. World is yours. Never afraid. Walk with dreams love and gratitude for the opportunities that the world gives you daily.

Disagree on how those who don’t plan small decisions can’t make big ones. It is important to have a daily self-care routine for example early morning yoga/meditation or sitting quietly contemplating/journaling to help enhance flow-state living. Simply flowing through the day without seeing decisions as a ‘big deal’ is easily achieved with a consistent self-care routine (that is something you naturally do).

hahaha...letting parents make our decisions for us is the 'safest' option for us Asians- one we fall back on when we have decision fatigue. But decisions made by our parents need not always be the best for us. My parents never had my best interest in mind. They were way too overcome by their insecurities and complexes to even make a sane decision. But they did. Reason- abuse of power that was by default handed over to them by the messed up society.
