That's the biggest beech tree I've ever seen! We have a lot of black walnuts on our property, love to eat them, hate to harvest and process though, such a pain. You're looking as beautiful as ever and I could listen to you talk all day.

Thank you, Vanessa, for sharing a food source I was ignorant of. Beech trees grow in Utah so I shall keep looking for them when I'm out in the woods. Videos like this are the reason I'm a lifelong fan. God bless you.

I grew up in the forest and fields of northern Michigan (USA). We ate a lot of beach nuts when we were kids. I didn't realize the could make you sick. Must be I never ate too many of them. Thanks for bringing back some childhood memories for me.

In England these nuts are called beech mast. It was traditionally used as food for pigs. As an Englishman (wer in Deutschland hatte gewohnt 30 jahr vorher....bad grammar, es tut mier lied), I miss the word autumn on KZbin 😢. Great video, again.

America, too, has a population of "vanished" trees: in our case, they were American Chestnuts, which were nearly wiped out by disease in the mid-20th century.

Great video! I bought a twig stove last week and tried it out over the weekend. It's great, it folds down to the size of a notebook when you're not using it. I still carry a small propane tank like yours in case it rains.

Wow… I didn’t know that about the beech nuts. Thanks! Now I will be careful not to eat so many. This year I am working on one of my biggest legacies. Do you know the Giant Sequoia? I began growing one from a small sapling. They can reach heights of 300 feet and live for 100’s of years. Of course I will never see this tree grow big but hopefully my children and their children will see it. Great Video Vanessa. See you tomorrow!😊

Beech Trees here in PA. -- Beech leaf disease is a newly discovered, lethal sickness affecting beech trees. The symptoms of the disease often present as dark green bands between the veins of the tree’s lower leaves -- eventually spreading throughout the tree.

Americans call the nuts from oak trees acorns. It may take multiple rinsings with boiling water, to remove the tanic acid. Some people put the acorns in a sack and emerse them in a stream for several days, to leach the acid.
