is it possible to visit gokyo from ebc without a guide and porter?

From EBC you have to backtrack and take another path to Gokyo. It's possible without a guide and porter, but you have to pack very light because carrying a big backpack will exhaust you at altitude. You can ask for directions in the tea houses.
