Timelapses were great in the Himalayas because it gave us time to stop, sit and enjoy the views.

We have one more video of our trek, hopefully these help you get a better sense of the trek. Are you going with a guide? We wanted to do it without a guide, but it turned out to be the best decision we made to go with Life Himalaya Trekking. They were so helpful, and best of all they arranged a helicopter ride out from basecamp, saving us a few extra days that we were then able to use to tour other parts of Nepal.

Forward flips at 17,000 feet. No other channel has this. You guys have just raised the bar!

We can't take too much credit, that was Rabin our incredible porter doing the flips (he and his brother also sang the open song we're using in these videos). If any of our non-Nepali hikers had tried, we'd have landed flat on our faces! Amazing how that altitude drains your energy and makes hiking feel like it's in slow motion.

Thanks for the compliments! It can be a challenge to summarize such a lengthy trek, it's great to see that people are enjoying our videos!

Hi Lyle, I am enjoying all of the videos! I am looking to go to base camp either this year or next and I am wondering when you went? And if you have any recommendations on when it is best to visit? Also, the trekking company you went with, did they offer this trekking package with everything included (tea house plus food) or did you have to pay for that on top of the package? Any guidance and information would be appreciated, thank you!!

Glad you’re enjoying! We have one more video with the final summit of Kala Patthar and EBC. We went in November. The two main choices are spring and fall. Spring has flowers and is warmer, fall is colder but more consistent weather. We chose November to increase the chances of good weather and it was perfect timing. Our package included tea houses, food, porters that were a blast to hike with, Kieran the super-guide, flights to and from Lukla, and best of all, helicopter from Gorak Shep back to Lukla at the end of the trek, which saved us a couple days of hiking. Worth every penny!!! We had to pay extra for tea and bottled water, and a little more for “luxury” when available, which meant a private restroom with western style toilet. Also worth the small extra price. We spent months researching trekking companies and routes. We chose the route because it isn’t the traditional route, so there are less people and the views are better adding Cho La Pass and Gokyo Ri summit to the already great Kala Patthar and EBC. We chose the trekking company (Life Himalaya Trekking) because they were the best with communication, and had the most advice in tailoring our route. I would highly recommend them…and if you want to take our advice, just talk to Shiba and say you want the trip Lyle and Thu did, you’ll save yourself a ton of time and you’ll know you’re in for a once in a lifetime experience. We loved everything about them, they even arranged day tours of Kathmandu and a road trip to Lumbini. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. Also, reach out to Shiba at Life Himalaya Trekking and he’ll be able to answer anything you can imagine about Nepal and trekking the Himalayas. I would say they are the best guide company we’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Good luck!

@@lylesuch4421 Thank you so much for responding! I am looking forward to the final video, you did an amazing job filming and editing the parts together. I appreciate the advice and guidance. I have made note of the trekking company and Shiba‘s name. A part of me was thinking about booking everything on my own but for something like this, I feel like booking through an agency makes it much more enjoyable. Also I’ve watched a lot of videos of different routes people have taken and I have to say yours was my favorite. The scenery is unlike anything else and if you’re already there, why not take advantage of it? I’m happy I landed on your channel and look forward to more content!

Thanks, glad you're enjoying our videos. We just use an old Canon 5d MkIV...kind of a dinosaur but works great in extreme weather and super reliable. It's difficult to take a bad picture in such a beautiful area like the Himalayas. Everywhere you look there's a breathtaking view!

Wow!! welled explain, can we do solo trek? Beautiful Nepal
@lylesuch44212 жыл бұрын
I'm not positive, but I think you can do this as a solo trek. We would normally prefer to go without a guide, but to me it made more sense to have someone coordinating all the permits, teahouses, and all the complications that arrive in the Himalayas. It was nice to just focus on the trekking and not even think about the logistics once we were out on the trail. We used Life Himalaya Trekking, and I highly recommend them, it was probably the best guide company we've worked with. Also, as you'll see in our final episode, they were able to arrange a helicopter ride out from Gorak Shep so we didn't have to hike back down to Lukla.

Hi , Did you guys take travel/trek insurance. Also did you hire a guide / porter? Do you think it is necessary? Thanks.
@lylesuch4421 Жыл бұрын
Trekking companies require that you have travel insurance. I would highly recommend getting it in a place like the Himalayas, a lot of things can go wrong especially with weather.

Which month did u went for the ebc trek?
@lylesuch44212 жыл бұрын
We did the EBC trek in November. We were lucky and had cold but almost perfect weather. Two weeks before there was a snow storm, and clouds rolled in after we left. Never a guarantee in the mountains for good weather.

Can you mention data when you whr there...

Oh yes, I just updated the descriptions with that info. We trekked in early November of 2021. Weather was cold but perfect for hiking.
