*Key Phrase: "...while you can still afford it!"* To my American Diaspora Brothers and Sisters; If you are watching/following Dr. Harnet, or any other source of information regarding out-migration, then you need to understand the "Frog in boiling pot" apologue: "You put a frog in a pot filled with pleasantly tepid water and gradually heat it, the frog will remain in the water until it boils to its own demise". The American diaspora is the frog. We have perpetually become accustomed - and _Accepted_ - the injustices of 400+ years. What we fail to realize is the pot is at a boil now. The Empire is collapsing, but just like the Romans of the 4th Century, when you're on the inside-looking-out (in the pot), its almost impossible to see. You need a "Plan-B" at least. If not for us older Diasporans, (assuming one actually cares about their children and grandchildren), as a "Plan-B" which is an *_Insurance policy_* for our FAMILIES. Geopolitical and economic realities show that the U$ Dollar is getting weaker and weaker worldwide by the moment. The window of opportunity is closing for us to "Geo-arbitrage" the U$ dollar. Instead of *Financing* that Benzo, or those Red Bottoms, or that silly iPhone, travel to Africa (or Asia or South America), look around, and find yourself an _Investable_ "Plan-B". Dr. Harnet can help guide you, or just do it yourself. Recent events like the 2008 crash, the pandemic, and even the American funded genocide of our Palestinian Brothers and Sisters should showcase that America is desperate. They will turn on you. Always remember, You get what you deserve.

This is such excellent advice and I am here to confirm and testify what she is saying. We bought river front property on River Volta in Ghana, downstream from the dam in 2002. Have built a micro luxury tented camp that is listed on AirBNB now. Within the past 5 years several small and large scale investors in the tourism and hospitality space built properties and we are all cashing in now.

Hi Dr. Harnet I hope when you read this post that you're in the very best of health and spirits. I appreciate you bringing up the name of the great lakes and one in particular is lake Victoria. Your father is a wise man and I also feel the same as him. The name I want to put out into the diaspora is the name of Nnalubaale the land or home of the Gods. Until the change happens I will be visiting Nnalubaale the land of the Gods. Holding onto the colonizer name only shows that Kenya Tanzania and Uganda are under the influence of these colonizers.

Excellent advice and review of Africa’s future indeed. It would also be great to review the readiness of these African countries for secure investment with relative ease of repatriation of proceeds, coupled with security around these land investments and living around them. This may require a specialist researcher, but will also benefit the countries strategic approach to such investments - especially encouragement of investments for local passport and possible residency

Just a word about lake Victoria’s traditional name or historical appellation in Tanzania’s part of the lake. It would be proper to call it (Lake) NYANZA since the tribes that live around the lake either call it « Nyanja or Nyanza! After all we already have the famous Nyanza Cotton Federation and Nyanza Secondary School which were thus renamed from their original names of Victoria Cotton Federation and Victoria Secondary School respectively prior to Tanzania regaining her independence!
@patriot_2022 Жыл бұрын
are those in Tanzania ? I almost think you are referring to Kenya's Nyanza region. If not, then I don't know what we are waiting for. That lake, is Lake Nyanza. Or Lake Nyanja and we should start publishing that
@masonsworld6851 Жыл бұрын
If you want this area to thrive the African govt should never let anyone build within 100 meters around the lake. If you want to bring tourist and millions in revenue. Make it a Marketplace. I've seen this mistake too often in the United States. Where the lakes and various water ways become blocked by landowners. In other areas like the various other water fronts, it can generate enormous revenue streams and jobs for the locals. Do not let them do like they did in Nigeria, Makoko it will become a slum like in no time.
@dr.harnet466 Жыл бұрын
I 100% agree. This is why I stressed on the importance for afforestation and regeneration along the lakes in my video. It is our collective responsibility to watch out for Mother Nature and create winning solutions for local communities in this area. I hope we all realize the painful COST of overexploitation and greed. I am trying to do my own humble part: We have just started to plant the first trees on the farm land I bought in Rwanda and I let a group of local women farm on my land for free for almost 2 years now. My dream is to create a food forest that increases water catchment for the lake, wildlife, local employment and a dynamic example of how a whole community can feed of a land by applying permaculture & regenerative agriculture. Thank you for your important reminder.

I agree with you, perhaps a 30 year time line. But the difference between Lake Como in Italy, and african countries, is that it takes a lot of capital to develop such a situation, whereas in Lake Como, it is a single location, and not very large, which means the capital & development has been concentrated into a small area. If africa just had a similar sized single lake, it too could have this much faster. But rather, in this current situation, any capital and development is spread very thinly. It's like building a small cottage, versus building a town, in terms of the concentrtion. And this means the lifestyle demand will take much longer to happen in Africa. Also worth thinking about. Many europeans see Africa as very dangerous place to go to - and they lump all countries together when they think about Africa. So unless there's a lot of education & perception change over many years in Europe, the European money will not come to Africa. The African governments have lots of work to do, to change perception in the western eyes.
@rositascarborough5751 Жыл бұрын
Misinformed opinion. I own a luxury hospitality product on the Volta lake in Ghana and 70% of my clients are Europeans. Both resident in Ghana DOING BUSINESS and tourists flocking to the country. It is a tired canard that Africa is not suitable or attractive for business, peddled by the same Europeans who are making a financial killing on the continent; in fact the truth is MOST of the prime real estate is owned by foreigners cashing in and hoping to corner the market for themselves. All the more reason to heed Dr. Harnet's advice and not wait for skittish investors. Tourism and hospitality is booming in Africa fueled by a growing African middle class and an even bigger population of the African Diaspora returning to enjoy their birthright.
