Good video, let me add a few things. First, you should mention the wall and floor thickness, Im guessing yours is 10 gauge, which should be the absolute minimum for a dump trailer.. its fine for junk removal, but tree work and concrete work will destroy a 10 gauge trailer quick. My Diamond C is 7 gauge walls and floor and its beat up pretty bad over the past 3 years, but it is structurally sound, and the dents it has in the floor would be punctures with thinner steel. . Second, you should always pay attention to deck height if planning on hauling equipment often.. most dump trailers have 26-28" deck height, which is quite steep for equipment loading. Lower deck height also means you can have taller walls and still load with a mini skid. Mt previous dump was 28", my Diamond C is 21".. world of difference. And finally you should consider upgraded axles, largely because you can equip them with 17.5" wheels and 16 ply tires. That wheel and tire setup is worlds better for hauling heavy, as well as nail resistance at the dump. For what you are doing with your trailer, I think you made a good choice, but if you get into concrete demolition or doing tree work often, you should really consider a better built trailer.. The price can be a tough pill to swallow at first, but it will pay for itself quickly, last you much longer, and hold much higher re-sale. Continued luck in your business, I enjoy your videos. Cheers.

I’m glad you mentioned the axles. I have a Diamond C LPT 207. If I were to purchase another one,…I’d probably get the 208 with the 18k rating vs the 14.9k of the 207. The 207 has been great. But I’ve had a couple of loads that the trailer had to work a little bit, if you know what I mean.

Best option you don't have is hydraulic tongue jack. A major cylinder company had a kit, (valve, hoses, cylinder, foot, etc) for $350. It was a no brainer. Instead of twisting those safety chains its much better to put the pin in the proper link. Neighbor had his new 7x14 stolen two weeks ago. Its best to remove the chains and couplers when not hooked to the trailer. Clamp something on a wheel. Anything to take more time to get away will sometimes make them look for easier target.
@JackofHaulTrades10 ай бұрын
Not bad. It was a 1k upgrade at the dealer it wasn't worth it to at the time. I prefer simplicity. The fewer gadgets, the fewer problems. But those jacks are very cool 😎 I agree with you. I need to cut mine they come so long from the factory 😂. Yes, when I leave it on jobs I lock it up and make sure I have at least oneor 2 trackers on it

Have you had any problems with heavy loads swaying? I normally buy gooseneck in the past but thinking about trying a bumper pull
@JackofHaulTrades7 ай бұрын
Only at high speeds, but that's because the trailer wasn't loaded properly. I had too much weight in the back of the trailer. Bumper pulls work great as well!
@amandadavis97262 ай бұрын
I think you’ll be fine with a bumper pull. Just make sure that it’s loaded right. My 7x14 Diamond C LPT had a LOAD of dirt and rock in it just under 8 tons. It’s rated at 14.9k. It was definitely overloaded, but not on purpose though. But it handled it just fine.

Fwiw, think of that solar panel as a maintainer, not a charger. It's just keeping the Batt healthy when the trailer is idle.

Be careful with the bigger ply. Not always the greatest. The axles aren't meant for the extra ply, if you do a sharp turn you have alot of potential to bend an axle $$$

Just got a diamond c roughly the same size as this one in the video but smaller payload. Do you think having two trailers is worth it? I’m thinking of buying another diamond c with 3 foot walls with with a 18k gvwr just for super heavy jobs like you said gravel dirt and all that. But California is the only dumb state that makes you need a cdl for a trailer that size.
@JackofHaulTrades10 ай бұрын
Hey brother, the 2 trailers or more is all going to depend on you. Is this your full-time gig? Do you have the space for it? I have 4 trailers currently and want another one 😅. My landfill closes early on weekends, so if I want to keep working I need another trailer. I also rent mine as dumpsters. I'm not sure what registration is in Cali, but here it's super cheap only like 12 bucks a year on a trailer or something lol
