I gave this video to a new editor with almost no prompt. How'd they do?? Also, our newsletter is awesome: techhut.tv/

good editing, maybe the audio could be a little louder, but it might be the mic, idk

The music is annoying. The animated graphics are superfluous. The rest is okay I guess.

I don't know what has changed in your setup, but your mic and maybe your webcam has gotten worse. Videos from a year ago felt like higher quality.

Thanks for this, I didn't know in the backend the Synology was acting as a NUT server with the "Enable Network UPS Server" feature under UPS in the DSM control panel. This makes it easy. I just need to setup nut clients on my proxmox cluster to shutdown the cluster.

I have my ups plugged in to home assistant. Lots of sensors to work with. Only issue I am having is I can't figure out how to get home assistant to shut down my unraid server. And for those wondering why I have it plugged into home assistant and not unraid is I want HA to shut down multiple servers on different ups's as well as other devices that may be running. HA uses the least amount of power and I have more battery than I need to run the switch, router, and HA. They last more than an hour. I have RPI's running nut servers on the other ups's to monitor them and like everything all in one place.

on the back end of Synology they are using nut server and client also, when i ssh on it was nearly similar on how you will set up Nut server or client

Lol perfect timing. Setting up a NUT server and shutting down all 3 servers: proxmox, synology, and unraid system is my next project. Right now only the Synology shuts down but the unraid takes the most power so id like that to shutdown quickly too. Only have a lower rating cyberpower for now.

Any advice for which UPS to buy? I got a great deal on a M1 Mac Mini and it's only downside is not having a battery like a laptop does. Would love to have extra room in terms of energy budget for powering the display and other office equipment for safely shutting everything down in case of power failure.

Honestly they don't pull too much power. A small desktop unit would work great if you set up a good shutoff percent.

the WHAT server now?

I would consider a UPS, but I will not get those lead acid jobs, and lithium ion ups's are ten times more expensive at the moment. Right now I have an APC line conditioner, and it's save me more then a few times.

If you are a DIYer, you can get a used APC UPS and drop the charging voltage to be compatible with LiFePO4 batteries. You need to connect to the UPS using an FTDI RS232 to USB adapter. You don't want something too new like an SMX unit, they can't be modified in this manner. I used an SMT2200RM2U with a 48v 100Ah battery and the runtime is absolutely bonkers.

What's wrong with lead acid? The 1500VA cyberpower UPS is all I could afford :) Tentatively planning to replace batteries in it every 4 years -- cross fingers.
@kenneth.topp.6 ай бұрын
@@jenniferw8963 for me it was the short lifespan. Just couldn't justify buying more batteries to feed it. Especially knowing how toxic it is (even though it is sealed)

@@kenneth.topp. how short was it for you?
@kenneth.topp.6 ай бұрын
@@jenniferw8963 i was like 18months. then I replaced it, then another 18months. and the model I got would beep, so you couldn't ignore it. i had enough. line conditioner works for 9/10 power glitches for me. good luck though.
