It is extremely important if you want to keep your bus cool in the summer to ensure that you have a clean, white roof. The thicker the coating, the better which is why we went with an elastomeric coating made for metal roofs.
With the roof clean and painted we installed Iron Ridge Roof Racks (www.ironridge..... This is a residential solar racking system that myself and other Skoolie builders adapt to a bus roof. In addition to the Iron Ridge system you'll need some stainless steel bolts, nylon locknuts (very important that you get nylon locknuts and not lock washers or plain nuts to keep the feet tight over thousands or miles of vibrations down the road), and washers. Head to a local hardware store for the stainless steel hardware, a solar distributor for the Iron Ridge Racks and your local big box store for the roof coatings. Don't be afraid to call Iron Ridge to get help thinking about/planning your roof racks or just head into or call your local distributor.
Here's the roof coating we picked this time (www.homedepot....) . It was very helpful to get a quick drying product so that I could do two coats in one day.

What length bolts did you use? I would have added some blue Loctite to the threads of the bolts for added safety to ensure they don't work loose over time. Very informative video!

I didn't put any sealant on the roof. These seams were watertight and clean so I saw no need.

How many foot is the bus and how many 5Gallon buckets of roof "paint" did you end up using for 2 coats of said bus length?

it's a 34 foot bus but you probably only need 2 gallons to get the job done.
