Justin made a good point (51:55).Qui Nguyen won the main event playing non-solver way. poker is a game of people so there are plenty of ways to win, not just the solver way.

Also how about the bread and butter of live players - cash games? Tournaments are all well and good but are huge rakefests and mega variance. Live cash in the US seems to be getting smaller as time goes on

This is one of the most uninformed and ignorant posts I have seen in a while. And I am not even talking about your opinion on Tournaments... Clearly you do not play enough or see enough data because what you think is happening is the opposite of reality. Holy hell... What a jackass.

Low stakes live cash are an even larger rakefest. 10% up to $7 plus $2 promo drop plus tips. Less variance for sure though.

32:47 this is not good advice. Having a big stack may lead to more bb/win rate but it doesn’t equate to more $/100 win rate. If you are saying you want to ignore ICM sure say that, but that doesn’t mean your $/100 went up. You are exchanging $/100 for more bb/100 and yea you will maybe finish in top 3 more often but you will bust out so much more often. Also, even accounting for FGs, it doesn’t mean you take -ve Chip EV spots

51:56 umm that kind of playing only works for a certain amount of time and once people have enough history you are toast. And this is especially true in live formats. You don’t know where a person is imbalanced and what massive blunders they are doing. But the moment you start playing online where people can track even the basic stats or even in sites like WSOP where tracking isn’t allowed but you get to see SD cards that you aren’t part of, that persons game just falls apart. Also, once you start playing high stakes where the fields are smaller, people will tear into you. This kind of playing style where you are extremely aggro works when people are scared of losing their stack cause the stake they are playing is above their bankroll and large field events when you don’t have playing history. There isn’t anything unique about this playing style and there is little longevity. Poker is war. And to win at war you must be willing to fight for years.

I also agree that the poker boom 2.0 is coming. It is honestly the absolute perfect time to make another big poker movie. If the right director comes along , and produces a poker movie that’s real good… the 2.0 poker boom will start. Mark my words jungleman

Effectively data mining specific opponents has been going on for many years, and both of these fellows know this. There is even a well known scandal involving a famous HU match centering around this.
