This is a nice mod, though i was wondering if there was a way of adding, "Green - full battery, Yellow - 50%, and Red - 20%". I think that would be nice, yet again, i cannot code that well.

I wonder how this handles different mods though. If you have a power hungry screen, a flash cart in and other things like backlit buttons, I would think that the game boy will cut out at a higher remaining voltage. Also if the screen has brightness adjustment too… Really what we need is for funny playing to add an RGB LED to theirs for a more clever indicator. It could even dim the screen gradually as it gets close to running out. It could probably do some calcs based on the rate or voltage drop to figure out when its likely to cut off.
@esotericsean2 жыл бұрын
This mod is actually more clever than you think, because it connects to the power switch at the end of the circuit it uses the final voltage that’s being outputted to the device despite the screen type, brightness, battery type, etc. If you look on his Etsy, you’ll find a chart of battery types and how long the shutoff time is once it turns red. Would be nice for FP to add that though!

Dude that sponsor in the beginning. I need a replacement board for a pokemon red an blue cart. Me and my friends games got chewed up by his dog recently. I need to swap the chips to a fresh board since they survived the attack

Unfortunately the first two pregnancies ended in miscarriage and it's been a tough journey. But my wife is pregnant for a third time and everything is going well so far. She's currently 13 weeks pregnant so she's entering the second trimester. We go to the doctor again on Tuesday, so maybe there'll be another update about it soon. :)

Hey sean, you still do any CRT retro gaming these days? If so what kinds of sets do you currently own? I acquired a 20” silver flat CRT (emerson/funai) that looks similar to that old daewoo you found (minus the s video and component out )
@esotericsean2 жыл бұрын
I have quite a few CRTs in my storage unit. Nothing too fancy, mostly just random old sets with component. Don't really have the space for it at the moment, but I'm saving to buy a house with my wife so hopefully in the near future!

When the red light starts to flicker or dim some you know the battery is low.....
@esotericsean2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s true! Though with battery mods the red LED that’s built in isn’t as reliable for determining how much battery is left. It’s all just for fun. :)

Take a look at the product on his Etsy to see a table of batteries and how long it takes to shut down once red: www.etsy.com/listing/1267252807/game-boy-color-battery-indicator-mod?click_key=ad5da53df859fbbbecde998f7f05b1c5d806fe50%3A1267252807&click_sum=ec30717b&ref=shop_home_active_1&frs=1

Does this work with LiPo batteries?
@esotericsean2 жыл бұрын
It's designed for NiMH rechargeable batteries (or normal alkaline batteries too I believe). It'll work with anything, but it's tuned for NiMH.
