Both my lazyness and the render speeds, but now it should be better for me (took 2 hours, and i had to render it again because of A SINGLE 1-SECOND OVERLAY BEING IN THE WRONG PLACE)

Definitely at the top of the list decision making. And that is followed up by the more technical aspects of post-production; transitions, fades, adding titles and subtitles. Kdenlive is not necessarily intuitive. So, it takes practice to remember all of the techniques.

Performing the post-production on the Bouldin Family reunion has proven to be slightly overwhelming. However, this video has been enormously helpful. A 20-minute segment that would have taken initially 10 hours to render has now been whittled down to 4 hours. Changing the presets is helping me to realize a 60% Time savings! Thank you

I did the same thing in Shotcut (except the preset by default was fast, not veryfast so the exporting time cutoff was WAY more drastic). I noticed no difference in quality, but did notice that the video file size was way larger, I think it's because the faster your preset is, the less compression is applied to the export, and compression is time consuming for computers so the rendering is faster but there's less compression so file sizes end up being larger. The opposite happens with slower presets, where it takes much more time to render due to the heavier compression, but file sizes end up being smaller, so if you have some space to spare and want to export videos faster, this is a pretty good way to do it, but if you run low on it, don't make the switch.

Thank you for this tutorial. It has been very helpful for my commercial projects.

I use parallel processing, 8 core AMD with 16 threads, it will allow 15 threads to process video, shaves 20% off my render time! Has never crashed.

Thanks! I'll give this a shot, have been looking for a way to speed up rendering

I use low quality GPU rendering for the test render and then do the slow CPU render for best quality while sleeping once I'm sure everything works.

I don't care if it takes a while to render, but my issue is that my videos keep rendering with low and inconsistent fps. Usually around 16 fps which rlly sucks

Hi J B! Thank you for the comment and the feedback! Windows 10 may have some additional limitations in maximizing accelerated options - typically Linux has been friendlier to these technologies, having the girth of community open source behind it. This is super useful information - thank you!

Amazing Video and great footage! I subscribed to see more Videos made by you. Kdenlive is a great Software. I use it myself too and create cinematic Videos. Keep it up bro! 👌🏽

For what version is this for? I went to the screen and it look totally different (22.12.2 is my version).
@Photolearningism Жыл бұрын
Hi Ivars! To my recollection, this was one of the mid version 22 releases. Earlier versions had options in different locations but should still be there. Being that I've already upgraded my AppImage to latest and greatest, I checked the archives for an earlier version of Kdenlive but only see 22.04 as the closet match to your version - In this one, it appears to have most of the same options as represented in version 23. To my memory, the buttons to duplicate and edit the render presets did not change much, but moved (I think) from the bottom of the window to near the top. Hope that helps some!

Adding the preset was no problem but made no difference. Still rendering at 7 fps on my laptop with an Nvidia card and the CPU is no slouch either. GP is idle and CPU is at 20% when rendering.. 😕🙃

Hi Ed! Thank you for the comment! To my knowledge, Kdenlive still uses CPU rendering, but is working on support for GPU. One more thing that may help is using Parallel Processing to double the threads. This also seemed to help my rendering, particularly when working through complex effects. Hope that helps!

Yo solo recorté un fragmento de video de 1080p 30fps en windows 10Pro me tomó 23 minutos, en UbuntuStudio el mismo proyecto me tomó 9.4 minutos

Hi dark matter! Just for clarity, is this the Render time that increased? If so, it may be worth adding on the parallel processing threads, which are designed to complement the export threads. Hope that helps!

CPU used only 25%, transcoding 50%, something not right. videos also look bad
@Photolearningism7 ай бұрын
Hi Dawid! Thank you for the comment - this may have to do with a couple things - the rendering settings need to match up with the project settings (pixel aspect ratio esolution and Frames Per Second). When using processing threads and preset compression, if these don't match up, it may clip the quality significantly. In terms of load, Kdenlive still relies on CPU (vs. GPU) rendering - I know that the development team has been working up an approach to GPU support, but it's still (to my knowledge) in development. That being the case, CPU is typically "heavier" and slower. Hope that helps some!

@@Photolearningism the same video export is on fastest setting in kdenlive 18 fps and standard in avidemux 80fps. Don't understand what is now, some time ago almost realtime :(
