OK I just want to say many of your videos are dealing with some things that are just beyond my level of ability yet. But I watch you constantly because for one, I’m gonna learn something that may be helpful or may be helpful in the future. But mostly because I absolutely love your sense of humor. I think you’re one of the best at dealing with snotty comments. Your sense of humor and the way you handle them is just a joy to watch. I dub thee “Sean the Jolly TROLL CRUSHER!!” Go forward jolly knight and slay! 😝

You absolutely ARE doing what you could be doing with a communications degree right now. I'm going to say "taffy" for the taste of Andy Guitar's hair. My way of maintaining discipline is knowing that if you stop practicing for a period of time, you lose your calluses and have to work through the pain all over again.

I think a video with all the different "diatonic" chords you can make from different scales would be very helpful!
@slingerace4 жыл бұрын
Learn the diatonic chords in C and you've learned how to easily find the diatonic chords in all keys. The pattern is the same for each key. You might find this vid helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hpiQq417mbOaacU

@@slingeracethis is true for scales and modes based on natural minor but he was talking about harmonic minor in the video. Which is different.

Good explanation regarding varying chord progressions using different scales! The harmonic minor scale now makes sense to me, and it could add some spice to some traditional progressions. I can see the pattern with the chord steps. Maybe you can talk a little on the melodic minor scale in the future. I'm sure the major six and the major seven intervals would make the chords more difficult to think about but certainly more dynamic in sound.

I'd like to comment on the favourite album question. I don't think there could ever be a favourite album. One moment you like hard rock, then metal, then psychedelic rock, then poprock etc. One moment I like Pink Floyd, then I like The Beatles, then I like Cream, then I like Black Sabbath, then I like Nirvana, then I like Neil Young/CSNY, and even sometimes I like J. Cole. It really depends on the mood.

I would suggest if he wants to teach guitar to not need to study to stay ahead of his students. If a student catches up to you , or stumps you, should you really be teaching hahaha. All though I started my guitar teaching career and I'm here watching... so um. Pot and the kettle. No I have only taught people basics hoping for eventual jam partners

Not yet everyone's favourite album, but someone recently uploaded *Songs for Ships and Irons* kzbin.info/www/bejne/jnm3YYiQpL6NiKs Some of the songs are jack-in-the-box surprising, and others can be used as studies in how to get the most out of a plain ole bag of major chords. (Well that's what Tim's friends said at their do to celebrate the honorary doctorate.) (I seem to remember you liked _Big Ship_ so it'll at least have a good start for you.)

Sorry to have to diss on Andy, but he did something to demonstrate he's not the kind of instructor I'd ever recommend. A young, beginning student wrote to Andy asking (with an air of desperation) for the underlying rationale for chord structure - i.e. what determines the notes she need play on guitar to "define" a given chord. Personally, I found this quite a reasonable question, especially for someone new to guitar. Andy's response was totally dismissive, saying that it would serve no useful purpose for him to explain this to her, and that she should just learn the chord shapes without regard for why they are the way they are. Shssssh! Not my guitar teacher!
