I really love my DrumBrute Impact, but kind of in the way you love a really ugly dog. I thinks its a tacky little thing with fairly odd and "off" drum sounds that don't quite fit the bill for what you need in most cases (this is strictly my opinion, not a generalization). But holy hell does the Polivox filter flip the script on the DB Impact! Instant injection of exactly what that box needed. With the addition, its no longer coy, really shows its "inner-Brute" and sounds wonderfully dark and massive. I can actually see my self using this combo and making something of it worth recording . Great vid!

Bought erica’s acid box iii a lot more hands on playable but still fancy giving the Elta a whirl!
@lcollet45305 ай бұрын
Was considering this vs acidbox iii ! Both stereo. Which would you suggest? Thank you!
@eyesintheskies3 ай бұрын
@@lcollet4530 I got the acidbox in the end saw one cheap on eBay so that kinda made the decision for me. Love it but sure I’d be just as happy with the elta. (In fact I’m back here trying to figure out if I could justify both! 🤦🏻) Not heard one in person, but believe it’s a direct clone of the polivoks filter, whereas the acidbox is based on one. It does have a variable lfo which the elta does not unless you add something with eurorack. The big knobs on the acidbox are a lot of fun to use, making it a lot more playable & the overdrive is great. But the Eltas a bit cheaper, has pink/white noise and the ability to filter each channel separately Hope that helps, it is a tough choice though. and pretty sure you’ll be happy with either 👍

this may be exactly what my Minilogue XD needs, polychained it's become one of my favorite synths...until I go for a filter sweep lol I have plenty of semi modular to fix that but I really like the idea of having something dedicated like this!
@ianmorton17992 жыл бұрын
Interesting, I've found that with the roll log(? Maybe dirt box?) filter pack I installed, having a low and a high pass filter really brings out some sweet spots. If I have any complaints about the XD, it's not with the filter(s), but with how buzzy the saw wave is. It's a little tricky to tame sometimes. Though that is a lot of frequencies that can come down to a filter.

Considering using this as part of a DJ setup, and would wonder if anyone has done same and what the results are. I'm running two turntables through a DJ mixer with an FX Loop, and would put this in the loop among some other effects. Anyone ever used this in that way before?
@Subtronik Жыл бұрын
I know one DJ’s FX solution was using a Korg KP3+. Great flexibility, especially the touch pad.
@GizzyDillespee Жыл бұрын
@Artie EffemeThat's not true... some fx don't work very well off of a mixer send, because the fx can't take the heat. Another thing is that some filters are more appropriate to use on full mixes, especially dance music. Let's say French House, you might want a LPF that seems to bring each higher instrument in one at a time as you raise the cutoff... you expect a certain type of sound there (maybe like a Mutator or even one of the old rack samplers). Whereas in Dub, you probably want a HPF emphasizes the sizzle, and so on.

Can you use this with a guitar for input, and can you add a distortion or fuzz pedal or other pedals to it as well, such as delay? I've read that you need to give it 5 minutes before using to let the chip heat up. Is this true?

@darkambience2 жыл бұрын
Serious comment, why? What exactly does the SP404 do to the sound? Say in comparison to taking drum samples and running them through an SP-1200 or MPC60? Isn´t it super pristine sound/bit-rate/sample rate? Really thinking about getting one just to get away from the DAW.

@@darkambience If you have a 1200 or a MPC already then I think you wouldn't need it. In my case I have the 404 MKII and 202. With the 404MKII up to 4 effects at one time, can resample, and add more effects + time stretch and pitch shift. For me endless mangling options with the 404 MKII.

As others have mentioned, probably not soon. But beyond that, they're two different things addressing two different needs.
