I did traveling w my family as an LPN. Stayed in a hotel and made 1200/ week in ME in 2016. Husband and I decided to get my RN and an RV then do it FT. That's how I found you guys. I was wondering if a family could do it and yup! I'm in block 4 of RN school and terrified! Thank you for your info! TNT is my fave part of the channel- very informative and inspiring.

Most of the states that pay the most cost the most to live… my wife is a ER travel nurse and she has been doing local contracts … in Florida a lot of hospitals are doing local contracts just a straight hourly rate… she did all local this past year and made over 200k with taking 3 months off and now I’m a stay at home dad

Nice! I'll say this as a warning to watch out for though: Many health systems are starting to create policies that prevent the hiring of local travelers. So if you have a Florida license you cannot be hired as a traveler making traveler rates in a Florida hospital. It's not a common practice but it is beginning to trend. Hope you guys can continue the same way! Best wishes!

@@NoOrdinaryPath yeah she said that she is aware of that but hasn’t seen it much…. She hasn’t been looking for any travel contracts for a year now.. she just resigns every 13 weeks and works as much as she wants at our local hospital . I don't understand how the national average RN salary can be just $33.00/hr. For an ICU nurse??? I heard an advertisement offering $26/hr for warehouse jobs that only require a high school education. The hospitals near me are also requiring a BSN completion within 5 years to remain employed.

Truly appreciate all our healthcare workers!! I think it is great that there is an opportunity for nurses and other medical professionals to travel. It allows fresh eyes to enter into another arena and possibly help growth and change in that facility. Also provides the traveling professional to learn more skills to pay forward! Healthcare will continue to increase in cost. But we are here for the positive not any negative comments!! Love your family, have watched and been subscribed for yrs now. Bless you all!

I’m travel rad tech. I don’t make as much as nurses but I am making double mortgage payments , put some in savings and I am putting away in retirement plan. I try to find the cheapest housing. I pack my food most of the for lunch . I just paid my car off , I have my 20 grand I want to use to start my own business to get out of healthcare. For radiology I find Virginia and DC pay higher and california. There are some contracts in Ohio that pay higher as well. I am noticing the lower paying places are in Florida and NC and SC ( where I would love to go). I have had sone terrible contracts. I mean absolutely terrible. I am in a contract now where I am counting the days it’s over and I am not extending. I am finding housing is beyond ridiculous as the rent is terribly high taking a big chunk of the pay. I will prob travel msybe a year more then I’m hoping I have my company running so I can get the heck out of healthcare. It’s just to exhausting and I don’t enjoy it at all. I’m doing it just for the money right now

It is unnerving to accept these and just expected to show up with no orientation on the unit, the charting, location and procedure s for emergencies.... I only have 1 year experience and am currently in the midst of signing my first contract as a travel MRT (x-ray tech) however the pay is only equivalent to me making about time and a half of what I make as a casual hospital employee. What were the rates like for the hookups in your travels? I am finding that renting a house or apartment for travel jobs is stupid expensive!! I mean out in the middle of nowheresville they want 2k to 2.5k for a tiny apartment. Any big city and you are looking at 3 or up, plus parking and all the other bs. I know you are asking him but when I was working Washington state, i paid 4,200 each mo for a crummy and very smelly Best Western and had to leave on weekends for a hotel further out because they raised rates on weekends to 250/night... and the owners knew me and what an inconvenience it was but simply did not care in fact he rubbed it in and asked me when I checked out on fridays why I'm leaving.. worst experience ever. A studio over an hour from the facility was 5200 /mo... one time got lucky in a beautiful mither in law, over garage on golf course.. in Oregon for 2000 mo.. more and more aband b, vrbos , asking 3-4-5k mo.. this is funny.. my recruiter told me about a job in Aspen, co... 3200/wk rate ... . no furnished finder and rates were up to 80,000 mo, nothing below about 8-9k . some listed weekly rates at 2-3 k so I would be hopeful that this was a monthly rate but yeah when I would inquire , it was per week...

At beginning of covid , it was crazy.. I was offered 5600 wk and the recruiter didn't even have me complete my drug screen and physical when she said to head to California you can have the physical and drug screen done when you get there... that made me feel so uneasy and the lack of professionalism with that agency made me pause so I did not take that assignment, I kind of regretted after finding out that almost all the agencies I contacted, thereafter , were not much better. Travel is an odd gig and really flakey recruiters, imo. Watch out for ones who want you to work as an independent contractor.. one in MT , I signed with and later found out that something , can't remember now , was not truly binding... the clinical director was also renting rooms like in and old renovated school with no A/C... AND TURNED around AND SAID .. ITS GOT MY NAME ON THE air b and b but I don't own it... I have other stories .... 😏 I didn't mean to write in caps above

Sadly for me, Travel Nursing became blood money. Keep your wife away from Miami. Many doctors and nurses there prey on travel nurses. My wife was wooed, offered q date, fooled into getting drunk, and forcibly made to violate our marriage. She abandoned our 2 beautiful girls for them. I found out and tried to save our family, because the kids don't deserve to pay for what she did. I am a broken man and COVID blood money is to blame. We have so many large purchases made due to COVID. They are now all a daily reminder.

@@MNP208 would you like to see the text messages and all of the other proof. Don't be a dick. I'm letting people know there is good and bad to this. If you weren't a troll yourself, you'd see I've commented in the past that my family did 8 months in 2021 with her in an RV in Tampa. You're a bad person.

No idea who you are you popped up on my feed… but this angers me. Y’all are certainly appreciated but that’s insanity. No wonder healthcare is so unaffordable.

Sad that you feel this way. Do you look at sports the same way? I always felt like it was criminal that we'll pay our entertainers millions and not bat an eye but those who work to save our lives or teach our children are often the most underpaid. 🤔

Follow a hospital floor nurse for 5 minutes on day shift and you’ll change your mind. It takes a special kind of person. I left the bedside after two years and work outpatient. Nurse pay is hard earned.

You're looking at the money the nurse makes. Imagine what the hospital staff that don't interact with patients make in a day. There are also downsides to travel nursing as a solo female traveler: housing is expensive; you miss your family and major events; you are moving every 3-6 months trying to find a place to live in a rushed time frame while living out of your car; constantly having to adapt to new people, cultures, environments and foods. It's not all glamorous. I've slept in my car and in bed-bug and roach infested hotels. Ended up throwing away my belongings. I've had my apartment swarming with bugs during termite mating season because I didn't know to turn the lights off on the inside (courtesy of being from out of town). I travel as a med-surg RN and I still can't afford to buy my dream class C RV. All of that to still show up to work and have to juggle 5-10 people's jobs (while being expected to act as an endless fountain of compassion) because these hospitals haven't recovered staff since the pandemic, nor do they seem interested because making one person do it all saves on the budget. In addition, nurses are facing prison time as scapegoats for a broken healthcare system. These checks aren't nearly enough to compensate for the burnout and mental health repercussions, but it beats staff pay for those of us with pressing financial obligations.

@@NoOrdinaryPath sports are an elective privilege. Medical care is essential. And yeah no doubt teachers are underpaid, starting salary is poverty level. Ultimately I have plenty of appreciation for nurses but I went through just as much schooling (probably more) and don’t make anywhere near what they do. All I know is healthcare is way too expensive and I have great insurance.
