Bummer, that seems like a lot. When I briefly worked in Dubai, I opened an account with HSBC. I didn't have to maintain a balance. They pestered me to take out a credit card...in the end they gave me 2. Again no deposit. I was staying in hotels apartments so I didn't get to experience the utility deposits etc. Thanks for good reminder...sometimes it's easier not to think about the details 😅
