Some food for thought.,. I bought a key map for my county. Use Google maps and locate and mark things on the map. Stores, swimming pools, ponds, streams, anything that you might need. Livestock and type, propane tanks. Anything. Keep it updated. Info at your finger tips.

No need at the moment. If we hook up a 220 generator to it we have well water right now. Still want,/ need to dig a trench, lay power wire from well to his solar system and if he'd want to hook the camper up to it run buried water line. It's placed next to where Ed plans to put his house, so in the end he'll have a small well house right next to his home to hook the water up to.

On a clear sky evening, I can see the stars blending into the more earthly fireflies....so beautiful!

Put a temporary tarp, or, better a shade cloth over the garden. You could use t Post or maybe just zip tie it to the fence. It really helps just until the heat breaks. ❤️🙏

I love shade cloth. You're correct, it really helps.

PN1 - FYI - I have the same rain catch water trough but I also throw a piece of plywood over it after the rain to lessen mosquitos & evaporation.

There is an inexpensive product that I use to prevent mosquitoes in my water garden, bird baths and catchment tubs. It's called Dunks. I get mine from the farmers co-op. Tractor Supply, Walmart and most hardware's carry it. There are 6 or 8 dunks in each package. The can be broken into smaller pieces for smaller bodies of water. They are safe for plants, fish, turtles, frogs. I've used them for years. Even plywood doesn't stop an adult mosquito from entering while you are getting buckets of water for your garden or animals. A package will last me several years and they average approximately $10.

Is it kind of like a sock that lets water through but keeps bug/ debris out?

@@libbylauderdale1382 So ironic you bring that up, I just watched a video where a guy talked about these and I was thinking of ordering them. Definitely going to now. Thx for the info.

@@markmelton8919 These "Dunks: are little disks that are said to be safe but really works on mosquito population. Some claim 90%. Worth looking at them on Amazon. Cheap and just watched a YT video where a guy swears by them. She just confirmed they work again. I'm ordering.

Ed what are you using those used water totes for? I hope its not for bathing or food... Didn't those used totes have previous chemicals in them?
@markmelton89193 күн бұрын
We used 2 of them to sit goud clean totes on top of for more head pressure. We plan on using some of the bad totes to fill with water for fire control, cut some open for wood storage, 2 to cut and build a shower... Stuff like that. They'll never be used for fur drinking!
@onamissionfortruth63263 күн бұрын
@@markmelton8919 Great idea! I never thought to use the "chemical totes" for that! Just saw them on Mkplc for $40. Guess no one's buying because of chemicals but doesn't matter for fire control storage. THANKS MARK! We live in the woods & was just talking about fires since it's SO dry right now.

@@onamissionfortruth6326 yeah, i try to prep for stuff like that too. I ran with our local fire department for several years when I was younger, and personally experienced a house fire ( luckily only lost our kitchen) but it still sucked lol. I suggested that the 1st thing everyone should have in each building was a fire extinguisher, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. A tainted tote full of water up on a platform near any building could be used without pumps or power if a fire needed more than a small extinguisher. We'd just need to fill them whether it was with 5 gallon buckets or pumped out of our rain catchment totes

@@markmelton8919 Thx Mark. I do have a decent hill close to the house I could place it up there & hand fill if I can't rig something up. Great ideas! Love it. Fire will be our worst enemy if bugging in so high priority for me.
@markmelton89193 күн бұрын
@@onamissionfortruth6326 even now, if we have any kind of fire at Ed's it would be on us to put out because it would take so long for a fire department to get there!

Hello Ed & Miss Hella Yeah Carolina is going thru a heatwave right now our temperatures are 100+ for the weekend and next week and I don't mind until it's time to cut grass 🥵, Ed I just feel that something is getting ready to pop off very soon so I keep myself as busy as possible getting prepared and I'm kinda like you I'm not exactly where I'd like to be but I'm more prepared than most. Also great work on you're water catchment system it's nice, I know you've went back to work again but just wanted to ask when you might be doing another "Bunker Build" video?
