Great video- loved hearing a pro walk it down step-by-step from different angles. Fantastic stuff.

I watched the video and most of what you said could be said in like 30 seconds. Maybe you can condense it a bit?
@kurtegibson6 ай бұрын
Yes the video could be shorter but this mistake is one I wanted to make sure to cover it thoroughly. Finding the balance between time and explaining each topic is different for everyone

you could do a YTshort version with the main points @@kurtegibson

I think the length is nice. Experienced folks get it by skipping through, but I can send this to folks and they can get more detail if they need it. I also watch all my KZbin at 2x speed 🫣

Is it an upline high release flick or just an upline floaty-ish flick. The last clip didn’t seem like high release to me, but 🤷♂️
@kurtegibson6 ай бұрын
Leo’s wasn’t a shoulder level release but more mid-section. Both can achieve the same objective. The point is those low throws below the waist are much harder to put touch on and throw a soft floater for the receiver to run onto.

@@kurtegibson suggestion: how about a vid on cutting deep as a handler/from shallow/the reset space?
@pseudo19116 ай бұрын
Hey Kurt, Isn’t this throw riskier than a low release because of the wind? Or because of Leo’s good technique does it allow him to throw, with confidence, higher release in poor conditions?
@kurtegibson6 ай бұрын
It’s not riskier because you’re really not throwing it at an upward angle. When you release low you’re releasing it at an upward angle giving the wind more opportunity to affect the throw pushing it up fast or as you saw it just drops quickly. This throw is flat and harder for the wind to manipulate it in any way.

@@kurtegibson Never thought about low releases that way. Thanks!

i tell all the kids i coach is that the OI flicks and OI backhands with touch are the most important throws in the game.. They all want to learn break throws, hucks, inside lefties etc... and the truth is... unless they've mastered these, theres no point in moving on
@kurtegibson6 ай бұрын
Yup.. it’s the fundamentals!

Also, why aren't we talking about that bad cut? Since when is an upline cut straight across, not slashing upline?
@kurtegibson6 ай бұрын
1) the video wasn’t about cutting mechanics 2) I don’t think it was a bad cut.. he also wasn’t even with the disc and was cutting from more upfield which causes a similar throw… he was open and took what the defense gave him and on a flat mark that’s not a bad place to cut
