A few fun board games that I’ve played that weren’t mentioned: 1. Terraforming Mars. This game is also a lot of resource management, but does fall a bit into the same trap that Chess falls into in that people who are really good at the game tend to do better as there are more optimal strategies. It can also take longer depending on play group. 2. Century. Another resource trading game, but is really fast paced and the trading chains can be complicated. 3. Hanabi. A very stressful collaborative game that is about you giving hints to the other people that you are playing with to put cards in a specific order. 4. Sequence. You and your team are playing cards on a board and attempting to create a sequence.

I once again have to plug one of my favorite games of all time; Sentinels of the Multiverse. It's technically not a board game, because there's no board, you just play the cards on the table. But it definitely plays like a board game. Each player is a superhero, and they have to work together to defeat a super villain. If you're a fan of comic book superheroes or cooperative tabletop games I highly recommend it.

Trading board games are actually a thing, or at least they used to be. I don't think they're around anymore but a few years ago Jwitz made a video about the Pokemon trading figure game, where you move the Pokemon and trainer figures across the board and battle. I think you were meant to trade the figures the same way you trade the cards. I'm honestly sad we missed out on it, cuz it seems like a lot of fun.

You guys are from the UK right? Every year during Easter, there's this super nerdy convention in Hobro, Denmark called Fastaval. It's all about roleplaying games, board games and card games. There's a contest every year for the best newly designed board game and role playing game (most of the games are designed exclusively for Fastaval). Due to this, as a participant you get to play these beta versions of board games, some of them are truly incredible. This year we had a worker placement, Kalah and another that was a push your luck, exploration deck builder. Both of them were incredible. The best of them usually end up getting published, such as Magic Maze and Whirling Witchcraft. I'd take a look at the convention if I were you, it sounds like it'd be right up your alley.

Myn personal nightmare in terms of monopoly were a night with an old friend and his wife. We played for hours and hours and i were really, really hungry, but i was the kind of guy who had a never-ending stomach, which is because my parents were to told me that i shouldn't ask for food (breakfast, dinner, lunch,..) in other peoples houses, because they were embarassed i think... Well i was there and played monopoly for nearly ten hours straight and then i were on the edge of loosing and i was so happy back then, but then my friend "sold" his houses to me, so i could play loooonger, since it was such a fun yeey.. Anyway regardless that such things were against the rules he said: Doesn't matter, you can have house rules and then we played for 'nother four or five hours 'till he was bored, because he were to win the whole time.. Since then i never were in contact with him again.. not because i were mad, but because he moved away and the contact gone lost.. but it were a nightmare..

I hate Risk, I hate Monopoly, I only kinda dislike Cluedo (which is mostly because I am an apologist for everything that is a "detective game", be it digital or not), but Settlers of Catan becomes a good game once you include the buttload of expansions that are available. It's not like LotR is suddenly bad because it's too popular. If you disagree with this notion, but DnD is still your favorite pen and paper RPG, then you're a hypocrite.
