I just bought this game, first Cruis'n I've ever played outside of arcades, and it's AMAZING, like it was custom-made to my tastes. Funny how all my favorite games are "budget" these days. It reminds me a lot of ExciteTruck, and I'm the only person on Earth who even remembers ExciteTruck! :V

Drifting is definitely required when tackling Extreme difficulty. That small boost you get for filling that drift meter is super important. Even when driving through a straight road you need to find room to drift boost.

Having to choose between a Hammerhead, Pegasus and Triceratops is absolute hell, but the thought of being able to drift corners with a land locked shark is just ridiculous enough to push it over the edge for me. I still can't get over the fact that the Jurassic Park 2015 Dinosaur models were used for this. I even saw the in-game cutscene fight between both the Tyrannosaur and Spinosaurus that was in that Jurassic Park Arcade. It's so unusual that I love it.

@@GameApologist No problem! It took me a moment from a part of a race track where the Spinosaurus was roaring to look at it a bit more and say "That model looks awfully familiar." And then I saw the T-Rex in some of the other tracks and then the fight between both the Rex and Spino which made me realize that those were in fact the Jurassic Park 2015 Arcade Models. And I figured it would be a case of reusable assets but I just wasn't too sure about it.

I was honestly pleasantly surprised when I heard about the Switch port. I have seen the arcade cabinets for the game a few times and was intrigued by the Nintendo logo plastered on said cabinets, wondering if it might be put on the Switch at some point. I’ve always had a little soft spot for the Cruisin’ series and other racing games. Here’s hoping that the port sells well and more can come out of the series in the future. Also, great video!

I didn't see a comment about it, but I believe Cruis'n was a Midway IP that was published by Nintendo, after Midway went under, Nintendo bought the Cruis'n IP and has kept it since.

To clarify, Midway is the developing company for the Cruisin' series. However, the publishing has been handed off from company to company many times, Nintendo being one of them. Raw Thrills specializes in created modern arcade cabinets, one of their other recent titles that was really good was H2 Overdrive, a really awesome spiritual successor to Hydro Thunder.

1:17 Nintendo created Cruis'n, and hired arcade game maker Williams Electronics to make arcade machines with upcoming N64 hardware. Williams, owning Midway Games, developed the arcade and console games, which Nintendo agreed to publish. So Cruis'n is Nintendo's, Raw Thrills is just the new license holder for development.

played the arcade version, and gotta say. it is tons of fun. a bit shallow, but fun nonetheless. i'd recommend Dead Heat from Namco too. it's a very fun modern full on arcade racer.

I never played Cruis'n but I also want more arcade racers. A good Outrun 3 for example would be INSANE! Outrun 2 is still so much fun, even to this day, but Sega doesn't port it to modern consoles for some reason.

@@GameApologist The yeti stage... the safari stage... the Hollywood stages, including the jump through the donut from the frigate during and alien invasion... all come from SB3. I've spotted 7 of its 8 stages represented in the game. The stage where the damn gets struck by lightning is also remake from one of Raw Thrills very early games. Plus , many of the unlockable vehicles represent their past games.
