@gomerjomer9209 imagine any regular scavenger kills you & they become a powerful captain with their own little outpost & guards. Imagine in vehicular combat, any car that destroys yours gets a more powerful car & a bigger convoy. Imagine if you died in the warcamp & the warcamp becomes more buffed out with stronger guards & more defenses. Imagine if you died to a warchief & that warchief becomes more powerful the next time you face him. Imagine the ambushes & confrontations in the middle of the desert (just as a random electrical or sandstorm hit) Imagine the different tribe of scavenger in your strongholds in each region & having to recruit & kill (& to be betrayed & overthrown by any random recruit or group) Man, that nemesis system would literally go into overdrive.

Mad Max gave me that driving and destruction crave I was always looking for in Twisted Metal that Sony was never able to do. I wish Sony would do something like this with the TM franchise. You pick a character and play through a story.

Pretty solid retrospective man. I did the same as everyone else played a few hours and launch and turned it off as it felt to much like all the other open world bloat from the time.. But iv just played threw it last week and man was a wrong...what a special game, your right they cracked the code, it's super repetitive but for some reason it just dose not get boring. The open world and hand to hand combat in particular holds up even to 2024 standards.

To say that the original movies are no longer culturally relevant is crazy. The world around us looks more and more like 1979's Mad Max every day. The asthetic of Mad Max 2 "The Road Warrior" (1981) in particular, essentially defines what most people still think of when you say "Post-apocalyptic". Tons of modern entertainment has been directly influenced by them. Fallout, Boarderlands, Doomsday, Saw... the list goes on. South Park has referenced it multiple times. The Simpsons, even Rugrats. Hell, the Dreamworks lizard movie "Rango" has a tanker chase that's a direct homage to Mad Max 2. And that's just cartoons. Anime? Akira. Fist of the North Star.... ... In the same way that George Romero created a genre with Night of the Living Dead, so too did George Miller with the Max franchise.

I like the kid but he sometimes has the weirdest takes, like he didn't do proper research. Also besides the things you refered the amount of movies made in the 80's and 90's copying Mad Max's style is ridiculous.

I just started playing it for the first time. Bought it for $3.79 on CDKeys. Such a steal. Already like 12 hours in (played in one go) and it’s killer! The only issue I’ve noticed is a lot of the bosses are copy/paste and there’s a lot of open-world repetition.

I feel like Just Cause and Mad Max had a lot of potential to be 10/10 games but the story and repetition drags them down quite a bit. I still remember playing Just Cause 2 as a kid and having a lot of fun in the gorgeous open world. My immersion kind of broke when entering the cities since the NPCs were really dumb and uninteresting but other than that I could lose hours exploring the open world with the parachute or by driving fast cars. Still can't believe that game came out in 2010 !

I just finished the game today and loved it! I think the reason why the repetitiveness dosent get to you is because of how the leveling system works like when I was playing anytime I did anything I never felt like I was wasting time like I always had a goal that was achievable in a pretty quick amount of time which never got me bored and is one of the reasons why I love it

I'm crazy. I liked the story (so basically I liked the ending that is an hour long after 30h of subtle buildup between fetch quests) and I was sad for Chum. Also Hope motivations kind of made sense with her being a slave and seeing that Max is a bit more normal than everyone else so she tried to do whatever to get a better life for her daughter

Mad max actually released the same day as MGS V here in the states im pretty sure. Also id say the story fires it well as another max story, especially thinking of it as s supplement to furiosa and fury road. It could really fit right between the two stories and not break lore

Dont know the full story but imagen what this game could have been if things hadny gone the way they did. It was otiginally gonna be set as a sequel to the fury road movie, thats why Max has nothing but himself in the end. Something along the rights fell through that ended up butchering the game in the end a bit.

It's pretty obvious why it failed. (It's based on a book, which is a story) Mad Max is about the story, literally the sad, gruesome story... so a game made by a company that made Just Cause. It's a game with no story, just blowing stuff up.. So yeah, of course that failed They completely missed the point of the mad max. The only thing they got right was gameplay. Which is awesome But what is an open world game if the world isn't engaging you. A failure. This is a very opinionated retrospective, not very informative, not very structured jumping around the story and points to make. Why are you explaining how things work 3/4 through your video. And not even that well... you even say it's 'hard to talk about let me show you', yet you are trying to do a video where you talk about it.... ' I don't know what a retrospective is' Shame on you.... lazy youtuber
