In these days of high energy cost’s, cooking in a slow cooker is very advantageous. Similar to a 40 watt light bulb approximately on slow. The reuse of a 500 gr Flora plastic box with lid, is ideal to freeze the remains of the Chilli to use later, my microwave has a defrost facility you can adjust by weight, and then heat up on microwave .Enough for one hungry person, or two normal. Or at my advanced age, 87 two separate meals. I would also add, that I have done this with Nicky’s other excellent recipes.

so cool you said that, I was wondering if it was interchangeable? Did you also transfer your meat from the pan to the dutch oven or did you just braise it directly in the dutch oven?

@@owenfarmer4197 I did it too and used 7h in the dutch oven; low temperature. It was really good. I only used 500gr though and honestly several people ate from it, the dutch oven was really well filled (not too much). 500gr are enough for sure! But I used really really good meat (from grassfed cows, killed on the farm, not in the slaughterhouse. So on the expensive side but using less, kinda balances it out, pricewise).

I’ve been looking for a recipe for a beef curry like my dad used to make for years & I really do mean years. I remember it cooking for hours. We’d have it with rice at the weekend and then with homemade chips in the week. This looks identical, I can’t tell you how happy (and stunned) I am. Thank you so much xx

I cooked this yesterday as we had family coming over and it was a massive hit, had to give my daughter in-law the recipe, I used 1lb 8ozs of beef between 4 adults and had a tiny bit left so if I’m cooking for four adults in future I will use more meat as leftovers are not to be sniffed at 😂, I did add literally two mushrooms to the ingredients but did 1.5 peppers but I do feel that some fresh spinach after the cook time whilst it is on keep warm or just before it finishes (depending whether you eat straight away or keep warm for a while) would be great too. I will definitely be making again very soon and if it’s just me and my husband we will be freezing the rest for another tasty dish later. Thank you for this beautiful recipe. ❤❤

A Massaman curry would be good here too. It's mild in heat and is very flavoursome. Pretty hard to beat a beef curry and it also doubles as a pie filler with a chunks of potato. Great recipe. Simple, easy, uncomplicated for great flavour and texture. 😀🤤👍

@@Kitchensanctuary I haven’t seen those videos. Respectfully, I was just a bit surprised and amused at the recipe ingredients. Wasn’t intending to be mean or nasty. Just don’t think most people need to watch an instructional video on how to make a curry from a jar, I think the recipe instructions are normally on the side of the jar. Plus I’m infantile enough to see the funny side of almost anything! Having said all that I’ve enjoyed watching a number of your videos, beef ragu and Tuscan chicken which my family loved and enjoy your lovely personality and demeanour.
