At least part of the melody for this was composed by Kanami before Band Maid existed. After Alone was accepted as Kanami's first recorded Band Maid song on Brand New Maid, she exploded, Yolo plus Unfair Game and Matchless Gum were released 6 months after Brand New Maid and Just Bring It with 8 more of her songs 2 months later which are all phenomenal.

YOLO is a kind of landmark song for Band-Maid IMO. It's actually a song that Kanami had in her back pocket, even before Alone. It's a well-crafted song with lots of great instrumental counterpoint. Characteristics that will carry through to future songs.

This is definitely one of the 10 songs in my top 3 Band-Maid songs. There's so much cool stuff going on in this song and it convinced me of Kanami's genius. Just wait until you hear our Maids perform live.

They pack so much into each song that you’re going to pick up on something new on each listen. The more you do, the more you appreciate the song, so that quality of the last one that you listened to being your favorite is evergreen. There are other bands that are stronger technically, but Band-Maid really stands above because of their good taste and writing.

On the 'b-side' of the single they released an instrumental version of "YOLO" too. Also on it were the songs "Unfair Game" and "Matchless GUM". "Matchless GUM" is one of my all time favourite songs. I nearly cried the first time I saw them play it live!

It is a Major 1st single released on November 16, 2016. It is included on the album 「Just Bring It」 which was released on January 11, 2017. Musicians and reactors with musical backgrounds say it's the first song they fell in love with.

I've been listening to them since 2014 when Thrill MV was newly released. I remember being excited for each new MV release after Thrill. This song though is what really elevated Band Maid for me even though I already really liked them.

Yolo is the fourth track on Just Bring It. The fifth track is CROSS. They released the official live video of CROSS from the 2018 Zepp Tokyo show a few years ago. All the live videos are great but the ones with the chandeliers are on a different level.

This is from the single of the same name and my favourite of their releases (so far). Four immortal songs: YOLO, Unfair Game, Matchless GUM and the instrumental version of YOLO. It's a must to also check out Matchless GUM and Unfair Game. In my opinion, music can't get any better than this!

MISA's bass is awesome in this song and what can you say about Kanami's solo, chefs kiss perfection! The whole Just Bring It album is fire, start to finish and includes songs like "Moratorium", "Time"(a Miku lead song), and "Take Me Higher"! Just Bring It was the first complete album where Band-Maid had creative control and wrote 90% of the songs themselves, and the results are obvious and undeniable!

You may also start to notice,that they always change the 2nd verse in some way,although in this song they changed it radically,its what BM does to keep things fresh,and challenge the listener in ways they never have been.great reaction.

Pretty much every song after Valentines day 2016....was written by Band Maid....Kanami being the composer/arranger of the bulk....Miku being the lyricist of the bulk....although ALL the Maids contribute to ALL the songs final version since Feb.14 2016

The thing that might surprise you is that they have soooo many hidden gems that don't have clips ... eg ... the other 2 songs from the YOLO ep ... 'Matchless Gum" and "Unfair Game". I've been on the BAND MAID train for 4 years and still pick up different things in nearly all of their songs I've listened to in that time. I'd suggest listening to ALL of their songs at least 4 times to listen to what each musician brings to each song. This song will be in your Top 5 along with the other 30 or 40 haha. Can't compare them as they are 1 of a kind. Great reaction as usual

what is it about really cute japanese chicks shredding guitars and drums that makes me crazy ? found all of these bands in 2016 and if you had told me 10 years ago what was ahead i would have called YOU crazy !! just glad i lived long enough to see this wave. their mv for 'dice' will be coming up in your reactions soon. a masterpiece of off beats and changes. all of the ductwork , cables and clutter in this mv i am pretty sure was intentional controlled chaos. great set.

There is a beautiful little Kanami piano solo of "YOLO" on KZbin, perhaps from the Band-Maid KZbin channel. It's tempo is not hard rock like the official music video, but still quite beautiful. I call Kanami the "Wonderful Little Genius". She is petite and one of the sweetest kindest people anywhere (except when she's in Beast Mode" on her PRS).

Typical Maidiac thoughts after listening to their 80th Band-Maid song. "Okay, am I really just a fanboy now, or is that 80 straight songs with no bad ones. Nah, I must not have liked them all right? For me this is the prettiest bass guitars in MISA's collection (G&L USA L-2500). It was used, and really shines nicely (literally), in the "Daydreaming" official music video when the light hit it just right. BTW- that last restart you did towards the end had some MAJOR reverb in the sound.....sounded weird.

That's not that long. They upgraded their sound, definitely. Probably got more confidence, more money, and more leeway with producers.

@@thefablesfolly The 2 defining moments are Thrill, and Alone. The success of Thrill kept the band going, management had already decided to end Band Maid if Thrill didn't do well. Alone was first band written song allowed to be recorded by management. It's success convinced management to allow more band written songs to be recorded. YOLO is the 2nd band written song with a MV.

Yolo is on the Just Bring It album 2017. Lyrics by Miku, music by the band (Kanami). This was a transition album where the band compose all but a couple of tracks on the album. Just a note- there was a strange echo on you sound during the video.
