my favorite Bond movie of all time, great music, Donald Pleasence as Blofeld - all components in place
@scottknode8985 жыл бұрын
Same here felt Donald Pleasance was most menacing even though Telly Salavas was the most physicals could engage in hand to hand combat with Bond but Pleasance had the most memorable presence. I would have to say Charles Gray and Christoph Waltz were the weakest Blofelds

@@scottknode898 and Max von Sydow in the remake of Thunderball (Never say never again) is very bad too. For me Pleasance is the only Blofeld.^^

Brilliant montage using unsurpassable material.Thanks for posting. Donald Pleasance has to be the most believable Blofeld, and of course there really is only one James Bond,RIP Sir Sean Connery.

YOLT grows with the years, as the best of Bond. Yes, I like the semi-serious On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but YOLT is the development of the character of Bond, along with the entire team. John Barry at his very best; his title song and score should've received Oscars (incredible that Adelle received one for Skyfall, blaehchh blaechh). Watching Goldfinger the other day, Bond is really full of himself, without the self-winking that YOLT's 007 has. The earlier Bond was indeed a 'greasy-lipped' guy. But YOLT has Bond at his most engaging, and just like the Bond of the novel. The novels OHMSS and YOLT were written at the end of Fleming's era, and we see that Bond is actually part Scot and French, which Fleming added after he knew Connery in Dr. No. YOLT's Bond is the sort of fellow you wouldn't mind having a drink with. Although not a great conversationalist: "Have you ever been to Japan?" "No, nevah!" The screenplay by Roahl Dahl is wonderful, cheesy and melodramatic. Great iconic scenes like when Bond sees Kissy for the first time (and Barry crescendo) and 'One Golden Day' as the ama girls run into the sunrise (OGD is the chapter in the novel). Bond is buried in Hong Kong harbor, lol. Wonder how the crew kept a straight fact. And then Moneypenny's sub office, with wall hangings. And then to M's cabin, more ha ha. Every sequence is priceless. TV cameras everywhere. Ninjas, Tiger Tanaka (again, reflecting the novel's relationship between Bondo san and Tanaka). Here we actually see Bond give engaging smiles, even to the villain who bests him (temporarily) at bo stick fighting. One of the great entertainments in film history. Connery would look terrible in Diamonds Are Forever, so YOLT is his swan song.

love sean connery,but he seemed bored throughout this film.didnt care anymore I guess getting sick of being james bond.

Sean Connery was sick of playing Bond by the time he started production on You Only Live Twice his fifth Bond film and had been filming a Bond film each year from 1962-1966 into 1967. He was fed up with how much the Bond films grew in popularity world wide into a phenomenon by time he did Goldfinger and Thunderball. He was exhausted when filmed You Only Live Twice as shooting schedules and traveling was grueling. During breaks in filming on You Only Live Twice he was followed around by the Japanese press and kept asking him questions including at his hotel they saw him with in baggy clothes hair longer then had shown onscreen as Bond and was growing a beard. The reporters asked him why he didn’t stay looking like Bond. Connery was angered and told them that I am Sean Connery not Bond and I want to be comfortable when not filming. He announced his resignation from the role towards the end of filming and said he was done. When 1967-1968 the hunt was on for a new Bond actor and George Lazenby was hired to take over and started filming in 1968 On Her Majesty’s Secret Service when they couldn’t persuade Connery to return.

@@scottknode898 and Lazenby turned out to be the WORST of all the Bonds
@scottknode8984 жыл бұрын
Hi there I agree I felt Lazenby was the weakest Bond actor just because he only did one film and his lack of acting experience compared to Telly Salavas and Dame Diana Rigg and others showed. Had Lazenby not quit the role and been so cocky on set ruining his relationship with Producers Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman along with Director Peter Hunt and returned as Bond for Diamonds Are Forever and others he could have established himself as a star and improved as Bond. I am only 33 almost 34 but been a big Bond fan since I was 9 years old in 95 when Goldeneye was released. I grew up on Pierce Brosnan and was in college when Daniel Craig debuted with Casino Royale and feel they are my favorite Bond actors just too bad Brosnan didn’t get better scripts in his 3 films after Goldeneye. I also liked Sean Connery’ s Goldfinger and From Russia With Love and watched Roger Moore’s The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only quite a bit as a kid. I may get flack but did like Timothy Dalton’s The Living Daylights
