you only need 7 minutes to learn how to roller skate | rollerskate 101

don't overcomplicate things. this is supposed to be fun remember?
here is a quick and dirty breakdown of what you should be focusing on when you start skating. a bare-bones breakdown for my meat and potatoes folks.
start by lacing up properly and then focus being mindful of your weight,
transferring from one side to the other side.
im serious, pay attention to where your weight is.
is it on the outside edge of your skates,
how do your toes feel pressed against the bottom of your boot?
when you feel comfortable,
graduate to the vstep for at least 10 side-to-side shifts before attempting the vwalk.
to start the v-glide, hold it for 10 seconds. breathe. glide. smile.
and look at that, you're skating boo.💋

I fell and had a tailbone injury too. On Amazon I got the Soared 3D Protection Hip Butt EVA Paded Short Pants Protective Gear Guard. I fell with these on and didn''t feel a thing. However my head snapped back but I was wearing a helmet as well. It was a cheap and did not give much protection because I felt the pain from that too. I then ordered a better helmet. Also ordered a skate mate to hold on to while practicing. I'm through skating if I can't do it with the help of these items. Just wanted to let you know that the paded short pants will protect your bottom.

I learned to skate as a little kid back in the 80s. I would skate for hours in the neighborhood or at the skating rink. It never occured to me how to explain how to do it. Your video is excellent!!! I was trying to teach my little kids how to skate but i was all over the place and just kind of showing them what i do instead of giving good tips or actual advice. I first roller skated on steel street skates when I was a kid in the 60s. In the early 70s, we lived near an ice skating rink, and I learned to ice skate. During high school, roller rinks and disco/funk/soul were HUGE!!! It's nice to see the culture is still thriving. I'd love to see national roller skate line dance team competitions! The uniforms and music alone would make it a spectacle to behold!

As someone who used to ski regularly from the ages of 10-15, the V-glide trick is EXACTLY how you learn to transition from walking to sliding on skis on flat surfaces ! Unlike roller-skating, this one is incredibly more challenging and takes much longer to really get right (since you have no wheels, you've got to do it just through weight distribution) - but once you do, you look like a pro by just moving a few feet.
