Quick tip, use tape or a marker on the windshield to show where to line up the wipers during reinstall.

My wiper arms would not come off by shaking the arm nor by tapping with a screw driver and mallet as recommended in the videos. Had to delay the job until I got a decent wiper arm puller. By the time you need to replace the cowl, you can be sure the wipers are on tight by minor chemical reaction between the metals and the wiper puller is needed. These are not expensive, hassle free, parts don't go flying and it worked great and a lot cheaper than having the job done at a garage. When reinstalling the wipers, I found on line that the wiper position is 24 mm from the tip to the cowl seal for the right (passenger side) wiper and 44 mm for the left (drivers side) wiper. Cleaning out the dirt that had had collected under the old cowl was the biggest part of the job. While at cleaning, you may as well remove the flexible shields just below the ends of the windshield and get the dirt out from under there as well. I used the OEM cowl from BMW. Everything is on the cowl, no need to buy clips, washers or grommets. Amazingly, it had only been manufactured 5 months before according to a sticker I found on it. Looks great.

Bro! Love the extra TLC that you put into your car(s). As a car enthusiast myself, it is much appreciated, even if it is not my own car, to see such love and attention to detail you put towards the car. Keep it up! Also, please do more maintenance videos as you come across such scenarios in either vehicles 😁

Love the attention to detail! Also the awesome job they did wrapping your car. When you started removing pieces to replace the cowl and everything was wrapped underneath is impressive!

Spot on man - the toughest part are the removal of wiper blades for sure and your wrench/hammer work around did the trick without having to buy a puller I would probably never use again.

I just got a quote this week from my local BMW dealer for the cowl replacement (same part #) $166.33 plus $75 labor= $241.33! And for those interested in the GetBMWParts link, that part has gone up to $87.54 + shipping.

This video was great, thank you. Parts were just over $100 and the washer puller was like $13. Took less than 45 minutes to swap out the part and a lot of that time was spent cleaning the pieces that would be going back in.

Im there with ya, My car is far from a show car but the small details like this go a long way.. When I was redoing my E36 I replaced the cowl, door handle gaskets etc etc... The stuff dry rots and becomes brittle.. The little things are just as important, Esp when they are cheap and easy to install.. Car looks great!

Great videography and a really sweet-looking whip! Is always a good idea to index the location of the wiper blades/arms before removal and use a bit of dielectric grease on the splined stanchions of the wiper arms before reinstall. Also, treatment with Cerakote for plastic will GREATLY increase the time between having to repeat this process! Cerakote is really nice for all engine bay plastic components as well as door scuff-plates, pedals and plastic etcetera-stuff!

Maybe for next mod window trim replacement to gloss black? I’ve noticed some F30s have the lower window trim on the door either in satin silver steel, chrome, gloss black plastic or just bare rubber. Mine has the satin You can do all gloss black for the entire trim or maybe just wrap the trim above the windows and replace the ones on the door. I think it’d really dial in the look of the car
