Emma was performing here in commemoration of Dutch soldiers killed resisting the German invasion of the Netherlands at the beginning of WWII, May 1940. Yes, that was Emma being given a tour, ahead of her performance, of the cemetery in which many of these soldiers are buried. She is small in stature because of the condition she suffers from, Gastroparesis. Emma is 16 now, and as you correctly noted, her voice has matured, and become fuller and richer in its timbre. Just imagine how good she will be in a few more years when she has fully matured. Her technical skills are already off the charts. Emma has been very busy over the last year since her performance of 'Voila'. She has been touring the world with Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, and receiving standing ovations wherever she has performed. In addition, she has given a number of extraordinary performances while on break from her touring schedule. Most recently she has collaborated with Disney in a show called Disney in Concert. Here she performs a medley of 'When You Wish Upon a Star' and 'Journey to the Past'. It is a stunning performance to say the least. A few weeks earlier in June, she performed again with Maestro Rieu in Maastricht a new song called 'Dancing on the Stars'. This performance is every bit as epic as 'Voila'. Both of these performances are available on KZbin. Thank you for reacting to this beautiful performance of 'You Raise Me Up'. Well done. I enjoyed it. All the best.

I love the way Emma draws the listener in and makes them feel the song. There’s another artist who burst on the seen at age nine and is now twenty, Amira Willghagen who is also from the Netherlands. Huge fan club and you can choose any performance and be blown away by her God given talent. I highly recommend both of these performer’s.

The land area of the Netherlands is half the size of the state of South Carolina. So, a fairly small country on the globe. And yet we have plenty really good singers, musicians and producers. 😊 Like Floor, Emma, Simone and Arjen. And then a few more 😊

Emma liberation Many liberation concerts asked Emma to sing: She is at Dutch cemetery celebrating liberation of Holland during World War II. 80 years since D day. The soldiers died in 1940 fighting to liberate Holland from Nazi She is so well composed, and natural. Every word she sings, she means and feels. Voice from heaven. Her songs “You Raise Me Up”, “Hero”, “Father“. When You Believe”. Right to the heart!! 8000 US military buried in Holland! 😂 I been to Normandy, Netherlands, even Germany military cemetery. So many graves! Overwhelming !

Emma has currently performed several times with the Royal Military Band Johan Willem Friso. Named after Johan Willem Friso, he was Prince of Nassau-Dietz, Prince of Orange and Stadtholder of Friesland and Groningen. [14 Aug. 1687- 17 July 1711] This always in commemoration of WW2, including fallen American soldiers WW2 In Margraten, South Netherlands with 8200 fallen soldiers ... There she sang Hero, and Father. In Amsterdam during the National Liberation of the Netherlands together with April Darby with .... when you believe. Then in the battle for The Hague with Father Also afterwards at the commemoration of the fallen Dutch soldiers on the Grebbeberg with You raise me up [this video] and finally in Assen at the TT where she sang the Dutch national anthem. All this with the same Military Band. She prefers to sing with a big orchestra. She only gets nervous when she has to sing with a sound track She has performed this song in several places during commemorative meetings in the past year. Particularly at the large American military cemetery of WWII in Margraten [Limburg-Netherlands] where there are 8200 burial places of fallen soldiers, then the commemoration of the battle at The Hague [South Holland-Netherlands] and at Rhenen at the cemetery of Dutch soldiers who died on the Grebbeberg during the invasion in 1940 by the Germans.

I like your thoughts and comments, you have some serious catching up to do, the other song you reacted to was Voila, which she first sang 12 months ago, and Emma has been effectively part of the Andre Rieu and JSO organisation since that time, and has been touring the world with Andre since last July. The recording of Voila was Emma's first ever performance of that version of the song, which had been very much changed from the version she learnt, (phonetically), she doesn't speak French, Andre slowed it down, changed the tempo, and added the key change and the repeat of the last verse, and it became Emma's signature song, and has gone on to have 70 Million views on KZbin, as well as a huge number of views and streams on other social media sites. The first time Emma walked out onto Andre's stage, it was the fulfilment of her dream, expressed so clearly in her first single, released 12 months earlier, LAAT MIJ EEN VLINDER ZIJN , let me be a butterfly The theme of the song is a deep desire for change, to become the butterfly that's emerging from the chrysalis state in the cocoon, and soaring free, to become what it's meant to be, and casting off the shackles and restraints that were part of the development, to be able to fully live and see the dream. The deep segment is very evident in a different version of the video, recorded in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJTbkqFvh5qmaqc The significant bit starts around 2:02 and goes through to about 2:40, she sings 'if only for a day, or even for a count of 10, I'd just like to live as another', a deeply emotional statement of her desperate longing to be free of the limitations and restrictions of being tied to the feeding pumps for 22 hours a day, and as she sings the words, her eyes close, and she shakes her head from side to side, and then her head goes down to silence, as she contemplates her true situation, no matter how desperate her deep desire for freedom, for now, there is no release, no change that can be made for it to happen, there is no cure for gastroparesis at present, and she has to face the numbing reality that her life can't change for now. At that point, she makes her decision clear, she is NOT going to let her disease define her, she IS going to fight her way through like the warrior she truly is, and then, she starts singing again, rises to a new high note, and makes it so clear that she will not give in to it, she is going to become the singer that she knows she can be, and that of course is exactly what happened 12 months later when she physically walked out onto Andre Rieu's huge stage in the town square in Maastricht, and performed the new version of Voila for the first time ever. Mentally, she was the butterfly of her dream, Andre had worked his showman's magic on her, he'd had 4 dresses made for her, and when they saw them, they both knew that the stunning black dress was the right one for her, and more than that, he gently helped her make that difficult transition from the good girl singer into the young woman who was ready to emerge and become the mega star that she was destined to be, any day now, the video of Voila will go over 70 million views, and that's only on KZbin, there's a similar number of views on other social media channels. When she walked out onto that stage, she was the new Emma, she came out on to that stage visibly and emotionally a beautiful, strong, powerful, serene, composed, competent, driven and dedicated young woman, and that first night on Andre's stage was the start of the fulfilment of her dream that she'd sung so beautifully 12 months earlier. This song, you raise me up, was one of a number that were part of the annual commemoration concerts held to remember the huge number of lives lost in the Netherlands liberating the country from German occupation during WWII, the most significant and high profile event was a concert on a floating stage in Amsterdam, in the presence of the Dutch Royal Family, and most of the high ranking politicians of the country, where she sang a duet with April Darby, 'When you believe', they gave a stunning performance of a technically difficult song. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3ibiIlnfKunlcU In addition, she also sang an emotional song, a Demi Levato cover, 'Father', a challenging song, and she absolutely nailed it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIm6c51tYsqXjbc Another song from the same series of concerts 'Hero', kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKDLgWOMaKp2iLs In terms of what she's been doing with Andre, the most recent new song she sings was written by the same author as her first single, but it was written 20 years ago, before Emma was born, and with this new song, she raised an already high bar of perfection that she set last year with Voila, and then delivered a gold medal performance that more than cleared the bar, she spoke a beautiful introduction before she sang a note, and with that introduction, she had everyone in the place (12,500) in the palm of her hand, and then, when she started singing, after a few lines, she smiles, her lip curls, and she delivers the equivalent of a vocal explosion that blows everyone away, and devastates everyone within hearing, and that's before she then builds to the end, with a key change, and belting top notes that seemingly go on for ever, an absolutely incredible demonstration of how much she has learned and worked on achieving over the last 12 months, her technique and ability is without equal. 'Dancing on the stars' kzbin.info/www/bejne/gp2UpoWVfbqChpo If that wasn't enough, she then went on to do a preview of an event that happening in Amsterdam next January, at the Ziggodome, she's guest appearing in a Disney concert, and she sang a couple of songs that will be part of that event, and she gave an absolutely stunning performance, a clear indication of just how much she's learned over this last year, both in terms of singing, and in terms of her stage awareness, which has always been good, at the end of the songs, in the beautiful climax, her hand is raised, and the final close, she doesn't just lower her hand, she brings it down in a massive postive movement that indicates that she is in total control, and driving the event at that moment, absolutely sublime. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJmkfZRjl8aNfaM There's so much more, but I'm out of space, and for me, my closing comments are important, the only thing that can stop Emma now is her health, and that's why I keep repeating my appeal to everyone listening or reading, if at all possible, please make a (regular) donation to Emma's foundation, who are working to find better treatments, or ideally, a cure for the illness that at the moment has no cure, and also can have devastating implications for sufferers, many of whom have taken their own lives as a result of the intense pressure and stress that the discipline of living with gastroparesis imposes on them. I know from recent social media posts, she still finds the unrelenting daily limitations of tube feeding incredibly hard to cope with at times, despite that she's loving the singing with Andre, which she regards as her therapy. She posted some heart breaking photos and comments from her recent holiday in Portugal, having to use her wheelchair after a time swimming, even then, at a time when the family were relaxing and enjoying a break away from their normal lives, Emma had no relief, no escape from the mental and physical pain of having to live with the numbing discipline of the 22 hours every day with the pumps attached to her, her ongoing lack of stamina that hugely limits and impacts on her life and desire to be free, and she rarely talks about the physical pain that so often is a side effect of the failure of her stomach to properly process the contents, or the indescribable pain of the procedure to replace her feeding tubes, which she endures every 5 months, without anaesthetic, to avoid any risk of damage to her voice. Her most recent change of stoma and feeding tubes (Her Mickey button) happened only 3 days before the first Vrijthof concert In Maastricht in July, and it went wrong, and took well over an hour compared to the normal 20 to 30 minutes, a video of the rehearsals the next day made it very evident that she was still suffering, she had to wear a winter coat to keep warm, and this procedure has to happen every 5 months. Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and required her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure. Please also be very careful if you post or respond to anything from Emma on social media, her increased visibility has resulted in significant numbers of bad actors creating fake accounts, the ONLY valid web site that supports Emma and others like her is the gastrostars site. One of the main people in Gastrostars is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in treating gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day. It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible. ://kzbin.info/www/bejne/qJmkfZRjl8aNfaM

Lovely reaction, thanks ladies. Others will say some of Emma’s best songs for you to react to. I’d recommend Father. Like this one, not the best sound recording. It’s worth it for the reaction of the sound engineer behind her, alone.
...a few more Emma Kok performances: Live Performance of *LAAT MIJ EEN VLINDER ZIJN (LET ME BE A BUTTERFLY)* kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKLCkGaPnrWYo68 This is a live performance from a music festival, Emma is singing her original song, it's upbeat and even has backup dancers! It's about her wish to be free from her pumps and feeding tubes, to live like everyone else, if only for a few minutes (The video has English subtitles). *HALLELUJAH* ( MAX KERSTCONCERT) kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6K5eYSrhbaompI *THE CLIMB* (Miley Cyrus) kzbin.info/www/bejne/moDLq596etp2eMk

Commemoration of the American, English, Canadian, Australian, Polish and New Zealand heroes and Dutch resistance fighters s who liberated us. And the brae Dutch soldiers who were slaughtered in the first few days because they had hardly any weapons to stand agains the German blitzkrieg. We will never forget and we'll always take care of their graves. Thousands upon thousands of young men died and gave us a chance to live in freedom. We will remember them every single day. The Canadians were stationed in my grandfather's house (mom not born yet) but my eldest uncle talked about them when he was dying (a few years ago). Huge hole in the roof where a bomb crashed through it (didn't explode). Then the Canadians came and they gave him (5-ish year old) chocolate (never tasted chocolate in his life, they were dirt poor) and you could climb on tanks ! RIP ome Mies and RIP to all who well.... gave us our lives really.
