This cartoon (and other Peanuts specials) are my childhood. The end is depressive though... when Charlie Brown just sits there... "I'm a loser, and I'll always be one", really sad... and the sad synthesizers don't help either. A big nostalgic remembrance of my youth.

Okay. So I just obtained the Peanuts Emmy Honored Collection and it DOES INDEED have a 5.1 mix of You're a Good Sport. The music is (mostly) isolated in the front channels just like the other 5.1 mixes. There's a noticeable upgrade in sound quality compared to this version as well.

Vince was notorious for variations of the same basic song in different tempos, keys, bars OUCH. How did he ever keep track of them? But yes, the Wiki was the perfect way to describe them.

spetragl If you listen to some of the songs on those Lost Cues CD's, both Vince and the engineers refer to each recording according to their cue number. I'm assuming this is how they knew which track went with which scene. For example, Centercourt is Cue 4 in this special and version 3 of Motocross is Cue 9.

I'm a sucker for vintage synths, but I must admit that Vince might have missed his mark on this one. The ARP string synthesizer is used a bit too much in my opinion and that trumpet sound made by maybe a MiniMoog is a bit cheesy. Though maybe that's what Vince was going for all along. Who knows. By the way, the complete takes of "Centercourt" and "Motocross (version 3)" can be found in master tape quality on the Lost Cues Vol.1 CD.
@NormSpupsEntertainment4 жыл бұрын
I think there's a surreal charm to this score you don't get from the others. the strings sound more meloncholy to me now than when I heard it as a kid, and that moog bass motif is so funky. makes you wonder where he could have gone with these kind of arrangements if he had more time on earth. RIP. Lost Cues is a gem, I hope one day the tapes will be released in their entirety!

Love that synth at 6:17. Is that the ARP solina string? Gives me goosebumps! Wish it hadn't had the "Pharty" synth added on top! But truly beautiful in its natural state. It takes you to misty scenarios that string synth 💖
@RingoStarr393 жыл бұрын
@@alexmasters6015 Yeah, that's from the ARP String Ensemble. The other one is from a Minimoog. If you like that sound of the ARP, I recommend the Be My Valentine soundtrack since it's full of ARP strings. There's either Spetragl's or the one I uploaded which is better quality.

@@RingoStarr39 Thanks Bud, I really appreciate that. I can't get enough of the ARP. I love Vince's work, some of it more admittedly than others. The end titles are surreal too. I think Elton John,s song for guy has this ARP solina string. If I'm correct. Cheers 🍻🥂

I kind of get the sense from this soundtrack that Vince had lost his touch at this point. Compared to his earlier works like "The Great Pumpkin Waltz" and "Christmas Time is Here", this synthy soundtrack seems rushed and amateurish.
