Just a heads up we put in extra support from the bumper mount and bolt it on right in front of spring hanger because it's not a if but when the from frame horns break off and it adds support for if you gotta get pulled out

I love when you guys do projects that involve fabrication work. God bless and be safe.

Tony I have worked with stainless for 30 years and the best way to drill it is start the hole with a small drill and then go to a bigger bit
@FastAgMontana9 ай бұрын
That’s what I was doing. Still went though a few bits.

Here’s a hint on the four mount your dial at 90 degrees, work with two jaws at a time and 180 degrees apart loosen the low and tighten the high. I machined for 20 years and all I ever used was a four jaw. I set up heavy pieces for electric motors, rotors that weighed up to 8000 lbs and endbells that weighed up to a 1000 lbs. I could get these pieces set up to

😂. Your comment wins the internet today! The shop addition is easy-peasy. The original shop…I feel Tim’s pain, maybe even moreso as I’m not out there daily and sometimes have to do a thorough search to find all the switches.

Slow bit speed and pulse the trigger. Crisco is a good drilling fluid, dip the bit and it will feed down as the crisco melts. Cool the bit in water or oil from time to time. Speed is not your friend in stainless.

I worked in a shop like that 17 switches and none made sense. Finally just started using circuit breakers.

Great idea. There are probably fewer of those in the shop.

Yes. Four-jaw chucks can drive you nuts. It takes a dial indicator, brass hammer, some other stuff, and, most importantly - luck - to get a part centered quickly. And if you aren't lucky, it can be a struggle, especially if tolerances less than a few thousandths need to be held.
@randallharmsen58029 ай бұрын
4 jaw chucks can be a challenge. When indicating in will move one jaw in that’s farther from zero halfway. It’s a tweaking in deal.

I had the opposite issue. Had one for a 379 tried putting it on my 389 wouldn't work called HERD and got the correct bracket... I think it was around $800, but that was several years ago.

Tony, be careful. If you get all the fixing done on all the trucks, then you'll have nothing to do and you'll be in a real bind then. Of course, you'd be the first truck owner since the Ancient Phonecians to get all the fixing done, but. . .
