I completely relate to being spoiled but not a brat. As a fellow only child, I always tell people I was “spoiled by circumstance”. As you said, who else were my parents going to give things to? But never a brat, never given everything and anything I wanted, and always appreciative. I also think being an only child I’ve always been more independent, even financially. As soon as I started making money as a teenager if I could buy something for myself I would. Because then no one can challenge the purchase or cost, especially if it’s luxury.

I understand your life Cassie and have a similar story. My parents have been married forever and have worked very hard. They also expected my brother and I to work hard and we both love money so we both dislike asking for financial help. In grad school I had 3 jobs and have always worked at least 2 jobs. When I was younger my parents of course provided more towards my lifestyle however I'm now over 30 and married. My husband even understands Im spoiled yet hard-working and never needed him but want him. They both created this issue however I'm also a Therapist and care deeply for others so it never gets out of hand.

This video was so insightful! I loved hearing you talk about how your boyfriend is perfect for you and how you’ve been able to pursue your passions through KZbin. One question I had, rather than an assumption is when you said you are a quarter black, I wonder if that has made it difficult to establish a sense of identity? Being mixed race can sometimes feel difficult to feel like you fully belong with any group and I wondered if you’ve had a similar experience? I don’t mind mentioning it at all! Growing up I’ve always been really proud of my mix because it’s so uncommon and my parents did a great job of showing appreciation for all the cultures we have in our family. I guess everyone always assumes I’m white so automatically puts me in that group, but I’ve personally never felt “left out” - I hope that makes sense 💖💖
