Being a chicken person, I tend to take offense when I hear some of the other more popular influencers give out false information....this video was birthed out of that lol

I look at it as our chickens are our pets like any other animal out there. Our oldest hens right now are almost 5 and still lay. I have maybe 1 or 2 that have almost stopped but not completely. Surprisingly, my little silkie is an egg laying powerhouse. I think she's secretly competing with one of our barreds. HAHA.. Right now though, the cold weather and molting they have slowed down and that's ok. They need a break too.

exactly....they need this break and then they'll be back to laying a solid amount of eggs early next year. It's ok if they take a few months off a year, it doesn't mean they don't have value anymore. That's what I hate to hear from other people around the "homestead" culture. These hens can lay for years like this
