This one starts sensibly and ends up...well, you'll see! I had a lot of fun trying these unique and beautiful colours from deepdeeplight. They're handmade watercolours from Latvia that I discovered via ‪@kriksis‬ and I haven't seen colours quite like this before. They're stunning; soft but rich, and somehow both contemporary and classic. I hope that you enjoy this video! Let me know which colour is your favourite. :)

I have an absurd collection of DDL. They are my favorite of all handmade and commercial watercolors. Night Raspberry is glorious! Also their Raw Sienna, Caput Mortuum, I never thought I'd use Wood Cow Wheat but I use it all. the. time. Tuff Volcanic Ash, Mother Earth Grey... Really you can't go wrong. And either they use their customer records in a very savvy way or they have excellent memories because they always seem to remember who I am when I order. I always feel better when I reach for my DDL paint.

Sorry I can’t on the whole be doing with men, so cannot answer, even thoughI made it to the end! I really enjoyed seeing these colours, they are really quite different in mass tone to wash, aren’t they? It is as if you have a bigger palette. I love how they granulate. I liked the woodland fern, cherryblossom , and the one that washes out like a yellow. The pink is almost lilac in mass tone and you could easily push that with other colour choices. What I like best about this choice is that they are rather moody but in a good way. I cannot buy more watercolours so I am unlikely to ever own these, but as a colour and pigment addict I really enjoyed this. I would like to see the orange even further washed out, a bit like the pink…. I have only recently come to enjoy muted subtle pales, I do like the top two neutrals as well, but the possibilities are endless aren’t they! Thanks for another interesting swatching session.

I recently got the floral set and it is stunning. I love Masha's Green, River, Bentgrass but all of them really. I've recently ordered the Beetle sketchbook with 6 more colors, plus the Juniper and Roses mini set. I traveled to Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia in 97 and was very inspired. These paints bring back the energy of the Baltic sea and forests for me. The beauty of @deepdeeplight_watercolors besides their incredible "darlings" is their relationship with nature, humans, inspiration and art as therapy.

I like my watercolours like I like my men, deep and instinse! ha ha, Will definitly be adding Deep Deep Light colours to my own handmade watercolour cache. I think the colours you chose do have a period/historical look to themmlike maybe colours from the Arts & Crafts movement really love the Dragonfly Blue and the Day Lily Orange is really stunning and I think the Cherry Blossom is a good mixing colour too. The names o the colours are quite evocative too.. I like the imperfection of your circle swatches,it seems appropriate fror handmade colours. I started out many years ago with watercolours as an artist, but in the last three years or so I have really come back to them and found a new love fror creating with them. It is thanks to your other videos of handmadecolours that I made the choice to only use handmade colours and not branded ones, you do pay a little more, but I get more joy from using them and they have a unique vibrancy and quality that sets them apart a little, I noticed a very real step up in quality when I made the switch to soley using handmade colours and my work also changed for the better too, can't say how exactly, but I found I got a lot more from painting with handmade watercolours if that makes sense.I also felt they were a long term investment in my own creative practice too and it gave me a new apprciation of colour/pigments too.. You really do have such a gift for putting palettes together when you are buying new paints to add to your collection, and it inspires me to really think about palettes etc when I am buying new colours as well,I try to think of how I will use them in future artworks and also about how I can mix with them too, watching your videos like this has definitly changed how I buy new colours and why for the better and I'm thankful to you for that. Can't wait tto see the 'prjects' you are working on if you decide to fil them for youtube.(matt) P.s I agree it does feel like this winter is going on a bit too long!

I love these colours thank you for swatching their us. They are gorgeous. Yeah I had to laugh at that comment. " I like my colours like I like my men...." 🤣🤣. I must say I like mine like I like my men as well. Strong, gorgeous with a soft touch. What I see is what I get, meaning no chameleons. Absolutely NON violent. I hate men and colours that slap anyone in the face! Not that I was slapped in the face by any man. But I know women who were. I love men and paints that are gentle and romantic and make me feel warm and loved and are full of very nice surprises!!!😄. These paints are gorgeous You mentioned really bright pinks that you hate neon bright pink and though I love pinks they are too strong for me as well. They are the ones that I was referring to as slapping us in the face. Too much. I had a pink someone gave me it was in a palette. The rest of the colours were ok but there was this really bright candy/ neon pink and no matter what I did with it it just was terrible. I could not mix it with anything. Even to mix white with it it was still garish. I could not do anything with it. It was way too bright for anything. It was a colour that would as they say "slap you in the face" I don't mean any offence now when I mention this I think you all know what I mean. It was just fit for nothing more than to be thrown out. If it was by itself I would have but I liked the other colours in the palette and I use them. But I love the soft dusky pinks and petal pinks. That Cherry Blossom is absolutely gorgeous. I have fallen in love with that Cherry Blossom.. I love that Teal colour too. They're all warm dusky beautiful colours that fit in well with everything. Even the orange and I hate most oranges, but that one I think they used to call it Burnt Orange years ago when it came into fashion, it was much easier on tbe eyes and it's a colour that would work well in paintings like if you were doing brickwork over a fireplace in a home at Christmas and even in the open fire itself. Like you see in Christmas cards. Gorgeous warm colours. You mentioned the way the weather is with the snow, it looks like Christmas never left us and it's coming on to St. Patrick's day!. Thank God the snow has thawed here in Ireland in my part of it anyway. But we had a bitterly cold, freezing few days. Thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed it. Much love and God bless Susan xxx❤❤❤❤☘🎨👏🌞🙏🙏🙏😘🌹🌹🌹

Love the three blues. The Daylily Orange and the Cherry Blossom do not appeal to me and the mass tone of the Bentgrass is ugly on its own, but I can see how it could be useful in a painting. By the way, I didn't hear the 'gurgling drain' and, sweetie, you do not have to apologize for any ambient sound that you imagine we will notice. We are too focused on YOU and your PAINTS. Natasha, I have a few travel size pallets, and each has a swatch card. I see you are using a sheet of canson for this swatch. Is there a specific way that you store your swatch card?. Like in a binder or folder. I really like the circles.

I store the loose ones in a folder! The others are in sketchbooks. :)

I have purchased 3 sets from deepdeeplight over the last year and I adore them. They are a dream to paint with. I like my watercolors like I like my men. Bright, eclectic, and part of my horde.

@@NatashaNewtonArt By the way, today I was talking to my partner about QoR, which is my all time favourite brand, I LOVE them 😍 and I told him they are wild, intense and glowing and he started laughing, saying he couldn't think of three better words to describe me. So it seems I AM like the watercolours I love 😂😅 And he seems to like me like I like my watercolours. It's an all around win-win situation 😂😂
