Hi Jackie! Thank you for your lovely videos :) Just one thing about Arches paper: perhaps you'll find interesting the tests that Jill Poyerd made of most professional paper brands, that was a fascinating in-depth study. Arches is indeed a nice paper (I used it for years), and there is no need to question your personal taste, but would you be interested into seeing where it performs compared to some particular other professional brands, as for how it warps, blends, resists to pulling the tape, how the paint flows in the fibers, how easy or hard it is to lift pigment or how it performs with a dry brush? Personally, I was really surprised by the results (being quite inclined to use Arches at first) and with time, it did change some of my purchases. I'm not here to advertise for her, but I do consider that her approach is rigorous and as objective as one can. Just in case you'd be curious, here are the videos IDs on youtube: v=DZhswCAM32Q and v=zn45fBA1b6I (she also links the results, in the form of a chart, of her long studies, in the descriptions of both of her videos)

It's been a wonderful creative experience. Who knew describing colors would be such a challenge for me. They are simply amazing paints. I purchased "Rae's Bloom" which was made specifically for Helen "Rae" Campbell who has a watercolor channel on KZbin. The granulation on some of the paints is so beautiful. I'm new still with watercolor and have purchased many brands like Daniel Smith and Winsor and Newton which most professional folks say are great paints and they are, but handmade watercolors are so personal and made with such specific care. I have many of the colors you mention. I absolutely LOVE my set.

Ooh I don't think I've come across her channel. Thank you for getting her on my radar; I'll check out her channel. I haven't tried Rae's Bloom but certainly will. Ooh I love Daniel Smith paints. I started with Winsor and Newton, but quickly grew to love DS. I've also been exploring Holbein Japanese made watercolors and wow, they're lovely. There's just so many lovely colors and brands, but I agree, there's something extra special about homemade and earthy pigments. I'm so glad you have many of them and love them. So good to hear! Thank you for watching and sharing with me, Araya :)

Hi Jackie, I recently purchased two sets that Natasha Newton put together for deep deep light and as expensive as they are they are so so worth it and I can’t wait to get one more 15 colour set to finish my collection. I absolutely love their paints they are amazing and I prefer them so much more than the mass produced watercolours on the market. I loved this swatching such beautiful colours. The ladies were so lovely to deal with they kept me informed on delivery and were so kind. xxx

I agree, I’ve sorta stopped watching some of the channels who use Deep Deep Light. I have plenty of Daniel Smith, Schminke, Sennelier, Qor, etc. but these handmade paints are beyond my budget. Handmade paints on Etsy don’t even come close to DDL’s price. Even with the discount code after shipping, it’s $15 for a half pan. I could buy a few pans if I REALLY wanted to but I genuinely feel like they’re overpriced & overhyped.

It's how I determine if I will spend my time viewing their channel. Also using the word like in the same manner and circumstance makes me tune out and unsubscribe. Then there's the sentence ending uptalk, downtalk and vocal fry. I sound as if I'm a crabby old woman but I'm really not. I'm only 65. Life is too short to have to endure in something in which you have a choice to listen to or not. It is never too late or early to learn something new like proper watercolor painting techniques. I am thrilled your channel appeared in my KZbin feed today and I look forward to watching your content and glean from your expertise.
