I watched this in High School as a comfort. Now i'm a few years out of college, been to therapy, did research, DSM-5 has been updated, My therapy sessions were like this. I'd zone out, get distracted with internal & external stimuli, be trapped in my head just thinking thoughts while being asked questions or while being talked to, not know what I was feeling, being a bit confused, or sometimes i'd feel real tired or extremely anxious. A lot of the time I had trouble understanding the basic homework given to me, which was to socialize a lot more and stop isolating. The therapist once even asked me if I was on drugs... I don't know why but I didn't answer her. I was not doing any drugs at the time, not even smoking. I think that when someone asks you questions or talks to you, you just automatically overanalyze it in your head and end up vocalizing nothing. For a while I personally thought I had BPD because of this movie. I no longer think I have BPD because ADHD seems to fit me more. Thankfully they started looking more into ADHD and noticing that its not just a boy thing, that emotional dysregulation can also be a symptom, and that anxiety often masks the ADHD in women due to societal standards.

Therapy sucks. I remember my therapist always saying, “if you continue being angry and blaming your parents then you’ll never get anywhere”. Really frustrating when they made you this way and still are toxic
