As a veteran guard player, the new Dex stinks. Wish I could just stick with the 8th edition Dex. The new Dex throws us a few new units but takes so much more than it gives. Trash tier Dex.

@@Randicore the crusaders is the only real ouch there, your conscipt blob (weve known they were being scrapped for literal months man, investing in a huge light infantry force right before a massive codex drop is SUCH a bad idea even if you arent following leaks) can get all the special weapon parts and sgt options you left on-sprue patched in

Interested in the Guard for pretty much the same reasons Nick is: regular dudes, fighting for their lives in the insanity that is the 40k universe, and punching above their weight by dropping a metric ton of ordinance on any alien, eldritch disciple, or heretic that looks at them funny. Then firing for effect just to be sure. That said I’m sad that Scion Air Cav is well and truly dead in this codex, with Valkyrie squadrons being removed.

I always hated the excuse for the characters being gone as they should be dead by now, cause it's been a long time. It hasn't, it's been like ten years. Doesn't stop them from allowing gaunts ghosts in there though, even though the ghosts series took place a couple hundred years prior in the setting

Characters being dead is never the reason they go. Plenty of ‘dead’ characters get rules. He’ll be gone because for some reason the model is not being made anymore. If GW ever make a Yarrick model again he will get rules again, simple as that.

Yeah, I think it's GW's way of saying that he's still alive somewhere MIA due to the conflicting reports of him being at Cadia or at the Damocles Gulf. The Lore reason is that someone in the Administratum messed up and put down the wrong name on a report. He may get a new model potentially in the future

I'm super excited about the new Guard codex, just finished painting up 750 points and played my first match with them using the 8th ed codex last week, had a blast and working to add to that! Most excited about the new tanks rules, it means that one of their classic weaknesses is gone (getting locked up in combat), and you no longer are super slow due to Grinding Advance. Can't wait to see a new episode with Nick's Guard army in the spotlight!

Thank you for the video. Overall, big fan. Most of the changes are more side grades than upgrades (so hopefully no need for nerfs). But there are a lot more options on how to build your army. The only negative I have is more of a GW overall reaction in that I don't like the overpowered named characters. Named characters should never be must takes for competitive play in for no other reason then you show up to events just to see army after army all led by the same dude.

Out of curiosity for that delay a unit coming in from reserves does that apply just to the standard bringing troops from reserves in or would it also apply to units with special rules? For example could a Hexmark Destroyer who has Dimensional Translocation still enter and ignore that strategem?

I like how his take in the codex pretty laidback and enjoying the different things added to the codex although I must admit I see the codex in terms of its rules and balance as similar to genestealer cult where their are powerful abilities and specific units and the rest of very combo heavy due to low profile stats and reliance on officers and orders. If no nerf comes like a nuke I will be very happy but seeing as I see space marine players at my local game store complaining a lot already about the rules I am worried

I have a very mixed feelings about this new codex. It's like deja vu switch from 5th ed to 6th ed book. IG gain a lot of nice stuff, but lost A LOT of nice stuff. I like quite a lot of things about this book. I like doctrines ( tho 3.5 ed codex did them better ). I like new models, especialy new tank ( I expected some taurox level disaster, and was proven wrong ). I really like new orders, buffed orgyns ( maybe regular ogryns will finaly have some use, for like first time in 20+ years :P ) and leman russes. A the same time, there are A LOT of very wtf decisions in this book. Where is my grinding advance, combined squads, conscripts, weterans, psyker squads, Pask, special weapon squads ? Do we have armour of contempt or do we not ? Why so many units have wargear options that are so out of ass and limiting ?

I played crusaders. They were good melee problem is in my opinion test players we’re probably not diehard guard fans they’re probably tournament players so we lost lotta fluffy units and hard-core guard players like I think GW will give us a few things good also kicked us that’s how I feel anyway
