TIP: If cutting dry hair, flat iron it before hand so avoid uneven lines. Having the hair wet actually gives more control, and easily allows for even, consistent blunt cutting. This is why most hair dressers choose to cut the hair wet first.
@JEvrist2 жыл бұрын
You can see split ends cutting dry and for those with waves or curls, cutting wet is a no no 😅 hair shrinks
@missreddog2 жыл бұрын
No way! Everytime hairdressers cut layers in my hair wet, they go in to deep and half my hair gets chopped off. It takes a year of growth to recover from the choppiness. For my locks: I tell hair dresser “trim wet, layer dry.” That way no surprises and no disappointments. 😊
@tonyabartley86692 жыл бұрын
Flat ironing before with any type of curl does not do well for the way the hair lays. If hair is straight already then it doesn’t need the iron. Too many times I have had to fix cuts on curly hair because the previous stylist flat ironed it then cut it. Curls are a different way of cutting all together.
@accesstotheredcarpet2 жыл бұрын
@@missreddog I avoid layers altogether since last year because I have fine hair and when dead ends grow out, it made my hair look splitting and separated. It was not fully bonded asymmetrically at all. I only want long bangs layered on the front to contour my face. My new stylist who has 20 plus years with L’Oréal explained to me that the texture and hair type play a large role how it should be cut because we have 7 years worth new hair growth and then we get clumps of hair fall out and excessive shedding because it was not cut properly to a certain hair type. Not only that, bad shampoo is another factor in how hair looks. I’ve learned my lesson not to have my hair in layers. It’ll just make my hair look thinner and frail. Ever since I stopped having it layers, more hair grew and bonded together beautifully. What a stark difference it has made for my fine hair.

I don’t know why this video came up on my feed, but I am always curious so I watched As a hairstylist with many years of experience. I am always open to learning new methods. I’m wondering though, why you’re cutting the perimeter without tilting the head and then also curling the sections up into your palm s your cut that line? This makes that perimeter less full, but you’ve said that you wanted to keep that perimeter(bottom) line full. I do appreciate how you’re explaining how you cut the layers, and I know the home haircutters and new stylists will benefit from that segment. You might explain how you are choosing to make your individual sections in the two front quadrants. ❤

Having layers for me personally makes my hair look much thinner. So I avoid layers altogether on the back and just have long layered bangs on the front to give my hair and face contour. That way it makes my fine hair look bodied and fuller. I enjoy your video. So talented Summer!

It's an art form and a science all in one. I remember getting my hair cut as a kid, and the stylists seemed to know what they were doing and it felt good when they'd section it off and comb it and cut it...now, they just hack away at it without even sectioning it or anything. Such a lost art form. (There are a few that I trust, but you good stylists are a dying breed : )

Hi Summer! I really love the method you used on this haircut! The layers turned out amazing and the final style is gorgeous! I was just wondering, when you start cutting the layers from the top how do you know where to set your initial guideline so that you can make sure you definitely won't end up cutting into the perimeter of the hair or risk having a disconnection between the perimeter length and the layers, especially when you know that guide is going to be used to cut the front and sides where the hairline comes up higher? Would you recommend maybe cutting the initial guide starting from the bottom for the first few times when trying this method of layering to avoid having those issues? Thanks so much for sharing this awesome technique and being so thorough when showing each step.💜😊
