You're absolutely right, Chris! I cannot wait to start making learning to code fun instead of having it feel like a chore or something that is boring.

Your last video (no longer available?) was very inspirational. Though, yes, it was very personal and I respect that I feel like it also had some pretty big lessons. You're awesome Chris!

Struggled with asynchronous js today but somehow getting my code to work felt like an achievement. I target concepts in my coding journey that are hard to eventually make them easier. Thanks for the wise words Chris❤❤

your videos have been helping me keep consistent in learning dude. You always make sure to say that coding isnt some get-rich-quick scheme but you have faith in your viewers that there are people who will succeed and get into the tech industry in a year or even less. really makes it feel like somebody actually believes in me

I find the times where I have had the most fun is making little games. I'm not sure if I want to be a game dev, but I like having that feedback where you make code changes or add features and then see the result appear. Like little JS games in the browser. That is fun for me

It's easy to do this after becoming a coder because coding is really really fun. The problem is before becoming a coder we have to make ends meet another way, and that other way is typically a job that we don't like, so it saps our positive energy. It's hard to stay in a good mood when you have a dull job, and when you are not generally in a good mood, you can't even bring yourself to a funny task like coding. I wish there were more experiences, tips and tricks about this part of the journey: the transition from our previous job to coding. In any way, thank you, Chris. I barely write comments because English is not my mother tongue and it's hard to bring my thoughts into words, but your videos are always motivating and compassionate at the same time.

I just recently asked to go down to 30 hours a week at my job so I can get home before I'm exhausted, take a quick shower and learn JavaScript for 2 hours a day. I told my boss why I wanted to go to less hours, explained how serious I am about learning code and that I would stay later during crunch times if needed. He agreed and that was 3 weeks ago. So far it has been so much better trying to study and not be so tired. I'm 53 and work at a millworks in super hot and humid Mississippi. It's brutal, lol. This is about my 5th time attempting to learn code over the course of 5-6 years or so. I think working long hour, hot jobs had something to do with my giving up in the past. Also, my own feelings of inadequacy and that I was too old to ever learn and then actually get a job in code one day played a major part in it. I've determined that if I'm consistent, if I know and am prepared to get lost and feel stupid because it's normal and just keep showing up to my computer EVERY day....one day I will get that job. I truly believe that now.

i like it , nice video, i have heard about burnout, i feel coding is reaching an age the developers are now getting burned out because its been popular for 7 years or maybe even 20 years... with schools and interest really peaking then... thank you for the video hopefully i can make the right decision and career move to choose this field or not!🤨

I am using code cademy, I want to work on open source projects but I do not have enough coding knowledge to do this yet. But I am trying to code at least 2-3 hours max. I think it is also a matter of patience and looking at the bigger picture. How you can get paid a decent amount for something that can be used to help people and create projects you are personally interested in.

’Ssup Chris! I really preciate you, man. I have watched one 6-hour long tutorial about CSS and HTML, and from now, I am only programming my stuff - trying to recreate some of the websites, build and experiment with my stuff. I’ll never fall into the tutorial hell thx to you. Wish you the best!

I think tutorials are good if ur a beginner, it may not be fun but will teach u the fundamentals and concepts u need to know. The fun comes after, i think?

@jakubhalbe5183 8 ай бұрын
@@andyl9920 yes, they absolutely are, and I will join the course at the beginning of the september. And I did not meat to exaggerate - tutorials ARE needed, especially for beginners, like me. But what I mean is that I, myself do not wanna get stuck, watching thousands of hours of tutorials, trying to build stuff and never really improving or learning anything. Instead, with the prior knowledge I have already learnt at this free 6-hour course (by supersimpledev) I aim to have fun and try my best, writing and recreating websites. I think that enjoying the process is the key - enjoying learning new stuff, not just looking at the end and havin' to get through. Cuz there is no end, we will always learn new stuff and this is it.

I used to love coding. But lately, I am just not enjoying it anymore. Little bit of background: I got moved in a team that uses some stack I realised I hated, then I asked to be moved to another team. But even if now I am using the tech stack I love, I am still not enjoying any of it. Do you have any tips to re-gain the love for coding? It is such a strange feeling to not like something you used to love before 😢 . Thanks, Chris!

@BruLLLo
@BruLLLo 8 ай бұрын
Not sure I agree fully. There is a range of knowledge needed to get hired so you need to grind a bit , be smart , structure and plan projects that will be fun but include boring stuff as well that is needed in the workplace. For example documentation is always expected at bigger companies, try and do documentation for all projects as practice, it will help later on to get the routine going etc... Do small proof of concepts projects for learning the tech needed to move the project along and include them in the project as well as in the documentation.

After self-learning how to code for 2 years, it's very discouraging to see the job market shifting toward a 3 years minimum "entry-level" market. Very difficult these days to get a job without job experience. Very bad timing for a coder like me. Not sure what to do, it sucks.
