Love your Scamp, I have one similar, but it's even older, a 1992. I'd recommend repacking the wheel bearings. There's a great video on it called, "Inspecting cleaning Repacking My Scamp wheel bearing." I plan to follow his step-by-step instructions when I do mine. I love how you always acknowledge Sky when she walks by.

Thanks @Lisantica! Yes, I definitely need to get the bearings repacked. I’ll check out that video you recommended!

Here's a sway story for you. I doubt I had any water in the tank but several years ago I was traveling, pulling my 16 footer, from Wisconsin to Oregon. I was doing about 70 when I started dropping down into the Columbia River gorge. I let up on the gas and instantly the trailer started to sway. I knew apparently from reading or hearing it somewhere that if I let up on the gas it was going to get even worse and if I hit the brakes it would be all over. So what I had to do was accelerate even though that was the last thing I wanted to do. I did and it straightened out immediately. I then very carefully reduced my speed. If that same thing had happened on a level road it would have not been an issue but the gravity assisted inertia but me in a real bind.

I have a 99 16 footer and noticed a small mass of algae in the tank. Not knowing it was, apparently, easy to remove the tank I melted a small hole in the top of the tank so I could reach in and remove the algae. Then I used my plastic welder to weld a cover back in the hole. Now, I treat the tank once a year with a low concentration of bleach and drain it frequently. And, living in a cold climate, I add antifreeze to the tank and in fact the entire system, every year. Last year I noticed some discoloration of the metal in the water heater. I called Scamp and told them what I was seeing and they told me it's common for that to happen and that It's not really necessary to add anti-freeze to the hot water heater. It's safe to simply drain the water from it. However, don't take my word for that - talk to Scamp yourself. Freezing lines and tanks are always on my mind in the Fall because I live in a cold climate. My first bit of maintenance this year was to, yesterday, check the lines and make sure the the lines were not broken and that there were no leaks. And I tested the water pump that pumps water from the shower water tray to the grey water tank. The pump was slow to start pumping and I reasoned the internal parts were dry. I added a little olive oil and then water to the shower stall drain and "viola" it works fine.

For graywater, have a short garden-type hose (3' or so) to a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket (or similar paint bucket). Get a lid for the bucket and drill a hole in it for the hose. Make sure the hose is short, or it will not drain well. Also make sure the hose cannot be mistaken for a freshwater hose (use gray or green or black or similar). P.S., I got a white bucket--it blends in with the trailer, not an orange one.

Great idea! I think I'll do that as well.

A short hose meant for washing machines will fit the outside drain. I'm not sure if the other end will fit an external gray water tank-on- wheels called a "blue boy." They're handy because on you can roll it over to the dumper instead of breaking camp and bringing the whole rig.

@Sherry Peterson That’s a great idea! I might be able to mount it on the tongue of the trailer when traveling too.

Love the trailer! Just an FYI, the amber and red side marker lights are placed wrong on your Scamp. Amber should be out front and red at the rear.

Could you ditch the tank and add another storage hatch from outside:? Could be cool… could just use 5 gal jerry can under sink?
@shaunwilkens2 жыл бұрын
You could definitely ditch the tank and ad a hatch. The area under the sink may be a little tight for a large Jerry can though

I added a 4 inch threaded, o-ring sealed port on the top of the fresh water tank. Now with a clean wet/dry vacuum I can completely empty the tank and using a clean cloth dry it’s interior. Keeping the tank dry and clean between Scamp outing’s is important. I found that the original Scamp drain valve always left about 1/2 to 3/4 inch of water in the tank.

It’s a seaflo pump and I forget what the faucet is called. I put some links in the description if you wanna check them out.
