Learning vocabulary, retaining what I learn in my lessons
@rashidah93074 ай бұрын
Great points! Great video, Qasim! This was a great pep talk for me. I've been studying Levantine Arabic in my free time for the past 3+ years, and I got burned out on memorizing vocab using Anki after my first 2 years or so. I experimented with some other spaced repetition systems for a while, but then I stopped. I just need to get back at it if I want to really move forward in the language. Shukran!

As soon as you reach A2 level, going above is a very slow process. I have been learning French for more than 2 years right now, but intermediate level is very slow. I am improving, but its a slow process and will take lots of listening and reading to improve language to the level we process our native languages, and just accept the fact that it will take very long.

French is categorized as an "easy" language though. It's grammer is OKAY, and it's vocabulary is strongly linked to English...
@QasimRazviArabic5 ай бұрын
Getting to a native level is pretty hard, especially when compared to a native speaker who has been educated in that language. But if you haven’t reached it yet, there is often a point in the intermediate phase where things start to click more I think, and you break out of the plateau you’re experiencing. Keep going! I think the persistence will pay off! 💪😊

@@QasimRazviArabic "I have been learning French for more than 2 years" ====> This sentence is sooo weird... Had he said Arabic or Mandarin, I might have understood the frustration (especially arabic grammar or trying to understand the lack of alphabet in Chinese) but French.... And as with most language trying to reach C1 is useless if you just want to converse day to day.

Arabic is far more useful than Japanese tbh. Japanese = A language completely isolated from the world.
@Benjamslikestrains5 ай бұрын
@@janjan55555 I don't see why usefulness matters that much, if you want to learn Japanese because their media and culture is meaningful to you there isn't a problem with that, same if you want to learn Latin for old texts. Learning a language solely for usefulness isn't a very good motivator imo, you should try to make it personal, and from that you can learn anything you want :P

How would you implement spaced repetition for getting familiar with arabic grammer. Would you just repeat every couple days a specific grammar chapter of your leaning syllabus e. g. al kitab?
@QasimRazviArabic4 ай бұрын
Great question. For me personally if I'm learning / revising grammar, I'll never revise direct from the book. I like to make my own notes on the grammar in a concise and condensed form that I've written myself. I find it's just way cleaner and clearer for me. Then from your own notes you can go over them using spaced repitition :) that's worked for me anyway

Some people are good at math, some at music, some at being funny. Yet, some people insist on acting as if talent for language learning doesn't matter.
@markchavez7386 ай бұрын
True, but it doesn't really matter. Not having a talent towards something isn't going to keep you from learning that thing. It just might take a little bit long than the person who has some talent.

Well for one, if you are not good at math you won't be an outcast of society with terrible life quality. Literally every human is good for languages. It's the only thing besides throwing things far and accurately that we're good at

Akhi, could you remove the background music? I’m sure a lot of your viewers are also Muslim, and are looking to learn Arabic for the deen, so the music can be off-putting since it’s haram. Barak Allah feek
