The fact George is trying to distance himself from what he did the night before by wanting to show JP a good time, suggests he is ashamed of, and cant face up to, what he has done. Likely because George himself has been a victim of abuse, he can't handle being thought of as an abuser - so he accuses JP instead. That part of this I can follow. But the sadistic manipulations suggests George to be a psychopath, so the writing of this I feel could have been more consistent.

@@Tvjunkieful12 can u explain when George was abused bc I’m unaware of this
@Tvjunkieful123 жыл бұрын
@@nazminar4327 His behavior in the first scenes here suggest he was, because he tries to make it up to JP by showing him a good time (apologetic behavior), and because when JP wants to talk about what happened, George tries to avoid the topic (suggesting he feels ashamed of what he did), but since he doesn't apologize, but instead make accusations against JP, that suggests the topic is too painful for him to talk about. And when George himself confronts JP if he sees him as an abuser, that strongly suggests - since that upsets George so much, and was a conclusion he jumped to immediately, that he himself has been a victim of abuse, and therefore to think of himself to be one is something he cant face. All and all it seems like George felt unfairly humiliated (and rightly so) when being reprimanded after Nancy complained about him, but because he had to hold his tongue (and fists) at work, let it all out on JP when he got home from work. People who are scared of standing up for themselves, even when they rightly can do so, but instead take it out on people not as strong or powerful as them, is quite typical for bullying and abuse victims who themselves becomes bullies or abusers. Having said that, later in the scenes there were also elements suggesting George to be a sadistic psychopat who felt himself powerful and smart by manipulating and confusing JP about what was what. But those lines and scenes (planting his police id next to the body bag, as an example)seemed more soap foam than they felt authentic (not only would not a dead body be left outside the scene of the crime, it would have been at the scene until it was transported away, but leaving the police id next to the body, had one of his superiors seen what he did, would have left him in serious trouble - might even would have delayed an eventual promotion.). But the first part of these scenes, is a very authentic depiction of an abuse victim turned abuser trying to first distance himself from what happened, and gradually trying to rewrite history to avoid being confronted with his own guilt and shame, but instead is trying to make himself the victim in JP's eyes. But that type of personality and background does not fit with the sadistic manipulations that followed AFTER JP had begged George to get back together with him. An abuse victim would only have applied such techniques to escape being confronted with painful issues. After JP had stopped trying to address the punch, George would have returned to plan A - distancing himself from the night before (and the scary thought he himself could be an abuser) by being on his best behavior, and showing JP a good time. He would not have continued manipulating and attacking JP after JP had stopped trying to get him to talk about the night before.

@Tvjunkieful123 жыл бұрын
@@emmacroker5603 Not as he is now. I used to like George, as the character he was when he first appeared, yes. At that time I thought: finally a police character who is not crooked. That is a while back now. And I also think the way the show has angled the abuse and manipulation SL is a little too over the top to be believable. I don`t know if you are familiar with the UK police drama The Bay, and the character of Andy in the second series. He, because he lies to both his children and his former partner, Lisa, manipulates them. But the reason he does so is fear of being rejected if he is himself. Even when his lies have been exposed, and Lisa asks him to tell their children about the girlfriend and child, their half-brother, he has in another city, he is so cowardly that instead of coming back with her, he abandons them all yet again. Not because he wants to inflict pain on them, but because he doesn`t dare to face them, and tell them the truth. That type of reaction and motivation is very believable, in certain types of people. And also quite easy to improve through therapy. The motivation and actions of George at the moment, far more rare (and also near impossible to improve with Therapy, since that type of individual tend to be more focused on manipulating therapists, than to be treated by them). That type of disorder is so rare it is more common in movie scripts, than in real life. In movies an individual isolating their spouse or partner in some far away location, to keep them under control, is more common. Most of the people, even those who manipulates to avoid in laws, family members or friends of their partner, who tend to isolate themselves and their partner, tend to do so not because they intend to manipulate, but because they feel insecure or fearful (rationally or irrationally) around the family and friends of their partner. The reasons can be many, from feelings of insecurity to negative experiences with their own family they fear could be repeated. But these type of conditions also are fairly straight forward to treat through therapy. But when series like Hollyoaks focuses their attention on the zebra cases, rather than the more common horse and donkey cases. There is a danger many viewers who have family members with traits similar to George, will identify those, and believe the person they know to be just the same type as George is being depicted to be, is just as manipulative and ruthless as George is. Even though in most cases the similarities with someone like George is minute. But because people believe them to be similar, people who have gone through therapy to win back the trust of their families, could come to be rejected, because their family believe them to be as bad as they have seen George be against JP on the show. Had George been a police officer with less severe issues, I would have liked the character better. I also had hopes the abuse SL was more complex, focusing more on why George manipulated and hit JP, than how he did it. And that because of this George would receive therapy and change his behavior, after having gone in depth of his problems, and also had been taught anger management techniques to stop him from attacking JP, or others. Sorry it took some time to get back to you.

The opening of the scene, George wanting to make up and move on, suggested he was ashamed, but at the same time fearful of what he had done the night before, and thinking he could distance himself from that by showing JP a good time now. But then JP wanted to talk about what had happened - which would have confronted George with what he had done it, something he both find so traumatic and scary he can't face it. So he blames JP instead. So far this SL works for a victim of physical abuse who himselves becomes abusive, but who is unable to face that painful fact, and therefore instead try to make himself the victim. But then he persists with manipulations who suggests him to be focused on being control and enjoying tormenting JP. That is a completely different breed of dog. Someone who is ashamed of their abuse, becomes abusive when they have lost control - like George after having been reprimanded after Nancy's complaint - and not being in a position to defend himself in front of his superiors, felt humiliated, and compensated that feeling of humiliation by taking it out on JP. That part of this I fellow, and was excellently played by Callum Kerr. But the writer has also included some sadistic manipulations, which suggests George to be a completely different type. Not someone who feels to have lost control, but someone who enjoyes demonstrating to himself he has control over the other person. The difference between the two is that the former is a traumatized abuse victim who lashes out against those weaker than him when being humiliated by someone stronger or more powerful. The latter is a narcississtic sociopath with sadistic tendencies taking pleasure in controlling and tormenting others, and who feels himself more powerful the more confused, saddened or hurt the other becomes. The former can easily be helped with therapy - the latter is a serious personality disorder. This cross between a sheep and a wolf I didn't find very authentic. But the first few scenes, before the sadistic manipulations polluted the authenticity, were brilliant. But merging the two personalities made the overall impression this to be a mess.

Or the scenes could have been better written. You being a doctor probably know the sadistic manipulations suggests George to be a controling psychopath, while the first scenes - where he wanted to show JP a good time, and became defensive and opposing when JP wanted to talk about what happened the night before, suggests him to be apologetic and ashamed over what happened - but at the same time being labelled an abuser was so upsetting to him he started accusing JP to avoid the topic. Which again suggests him to have been a victim of abuse himself, an so traumatized by it he cant face such accusations about himself. But to merge a psychopath and an abuse victim into one, is a little confusing, and not that authentic. Psychpoaths tend to be abusers - not abuse victims.

@Tvjunkieful123 жыл бұрын
@@xalexis.editsx The issue isn`t whether he is an abuser or not - but WHY HE IS AN ABUSER. There is a huge difference between various types of domestic abusers. The worse of them, the psychopaths, are extremely dangerous, and very difficult to correct through therapy. But the ones who either have grown up with an abusive role model, or in an environment where abuse was common, can be helped through therapy. There is a difference between someone who hits or psychologically torment his/her partner because it makes them feel powerful and in control, and someone who lashes out in frustrated anger after having had to bite their tongue, or been too timid to stand up for themselves, being reprimanded at work, like George was before he provoked a confrontation with, and hit, JP. Had George been a psychopath, he wouldn`t have needed any reason to hit or torment JP, he would have done it, and manipulated some excuse, pretending to make up with JP, or something, afterwards. To a psychopath that would have been a double whammy. First he got to feel superior just by hitting or tormenting JP, then he proved his superiority again when conning JP into thinking he was sorry. But since George had been reprimanded at work because of Nancy`s unfair and vengeful complaint (which it is beyond me why was taken seriously, taking into account George managed to both find drugs at the school and arrest someone (Juliet), he was even the one who arrested Jordan after Sid`s tip - so what he could be blamed for is beyond me. Nancy had a drug dealing son she wasn`t aware of. Not to mention both her husband and ex-husband have been jailed for drug dealing, so in real life both she and Darren likely would have been considered as potential suspects after Charlie`s arrest.). But all that aside, because George had a reason to feel upset, which he wrongly took out on JP, who he claims to love, that strongly suggest he had built up anger he needed to get out, and since he took it out on someone he loved, that suggest he lost control when doing so. Which again suggests the reason he didn`t want to talk about what had happened was that he was ashamed, and this again - the fact he not only hit someone he loved, feels ashamed about it, but yet cannot bring himself to apologize, but instead try to show JP that he cares about him and wants to make it up to him by showing him a good time, reveals seeing himself as an abuser is something that is too painful for George to face. Remember it was him, not JP, who first mentioned domestic abuse. Together this indicates, since domestic abuse both so quickly springs to George`s mind, and since it is too painful for him to accept to even bring himself to apologize to JP for what he did, that domestic abuse is something not foreign to George. But since he also appear ashamed of it, it is more likely he himself has been subjected to it, and therefore find the thought of himself exposing JP that he loves to the same, unbearable. Which again means he couldn`t have willingly done what he did, but that he lost control. The reason he lost control was that he was angry - and why was he angry? Because he had been unfairly reprimanded at work. Since he feels himself, and was, unfairly reprimanded, he clearly didn`t speak up about that fact at the time. Which suggest him to have a problem when facing authorities. Which again could be because he was abused by something like a father figure, teacher, priest, coach or similar when he was younger. In real life the fact George, had he been a real person - Callum Kerr probably have done the same because of sport or to get roles - has built up so much muscles, would have been an indication he needed to to defend himself against someone. And since George himself mentioned domestic abuse, and used physical power, physical abuse most likely is what he was subjected to when younger and weaker. And from someone, because he mentioned domestic abuse, within his own household as a child/teen. Like a father/stepfather or brother/brothers. The thing he said about "that is what boys do," also could have been something he had been told by one or more abusive brother/brothers as an excuse after he had been hit, probably said in defense to a parent figure. It is even possible, because of George`s good looks that the physical beating have been camouflage for sexual contact by a brother or father/stepfather who found George too irresistible to resist. But because of the added controversy of the incest element, didn`t express those urges directly, but camouflaged them as physical beating, or physical punishment, wrestling and such. George could even have been beaten to make him less attractive to the abuser, so the abuser would find it easier to resist him. Judging from what we saw in the first half of this, because of the reference to "that is what boys do," George has one or more brothers who have beaten him regularly when he was younger. And if there was only one, that one probably did so because he felt sexually attracted to George, and felt conflicted about his feelings for him.

I am a bit confused whether George is supposed to be a narcississtic and controling power freak of a psychopath, or a former victim of abuse who was so traumatized by it he is unable to face the possibility he could be an abuser himself, and therefore started accusing JP instead.
@joshseymour39103 жыл бұрын
@@Tvjunkieful12 I think it's the former, I think he is being abusive and then trying to make JP believe it's his fault and using his power of knowledge about JP's past and the fact that he's a copper to manipulative him

I swear the only thing JP needed to do is tell the whole story to someone. He deosnt even complete or tell his stories to courtney and this scene if he had just said he got "punched" goldie wouldnt even give that advise to him instead they will be rallying behind him to scare away george. Mygash is COMMUNICATION really sucks at Hollyoaks??????

Georges is really stunning. he very gorgeous. can we see him in a baiting suit pls.... before he goes away .plssss. for the domestic violence it is well presented. in real they are exactly like that. they want you to feel guilty , like it was your fault. Like they says, to never forget, they begin with littles steps to toss you , if you accept it, they going to go futher. somes psychologues said a man doesnt begin to beat is girlfrind. he have begin with small steps many times ago. maybe we can make an analogie with the psychopath. they begin with smalls animals first
