You did a great service to those of us with hearing deficits; in over forty years of emergency services I have probably heard every possible radio technique. If only they had had your production to watch, communication would have been much more effective.

LOL! When I saw a notification from you on my KZbin page I thought you were replying to a comment I made on one of your videos! But I couldn't remember commenting on any of your videos. I guess this is my first comment! Now I know how to talk into a HT or microphone for that matter.

I think you must have clicked on the notifications bell then! Well if this is your first comment, welcome to the channel!

@@radiosification Yes I had clicked on the bell. Just passed my Tech on March 8th this year and then the General about 6 weeks apart. Going for my Extra next. I have the Ailunce HD1 and the Yeasu FTM-100DR and then on Saturday got the FT-2DR. I enjoy your videos! I was the way you titled this video that got my attention...Because I pretty much have done everything wrong so far. I am an old guy so...

@@1crazynordlander Congratulations on getting the licences and good luck for the extra. Glad you found the video useful. I very often hear people using bad microphone practice so hoped this would make a little change and maybe people would send the video on to friends with bad audio haha.

Seems some are so afraid of offending others they simply give them a 5/9, the other person then naturally assumes their audio is fine...a comment i often get is "Well you're the only one complaining.." My tip, especially when on digital as it handles bad audio very poorly indeed, is to turn the rig sideways, so you speak across the mic, not directly into it, that cuts out a load of clicks & pops.
@radiosification5 жыл бұрын
Yeah. So many people on digital with dreadful audio. And the tip about turning the radio sideways is basically what I said in the video

Common knowledge that most experienced radio users know. It's the newbies that needs to learn this.
@radiosification5 жыл бұрын
You would think it is common knowledge, but I do hear many people on digital modes who don't know this stuff! Just thought I would try to make a video and help educate people. Even if it only helps a few people, that's still a worthwhile difference made

Couple things that have always bothered me.. when someone is driving a loud vehicle on a mobile, they always speak super loud. It's not necessarry. Speak in a normal tone at a normal volume and the radio will pickup your audio just fine.

Hello Sir, I hope you are doing very well and in good health, my question is this: in my country emergency services have Motorola APX6000 radio that work in analog mode I hear in these radio the alert call (MDC1200 DOS mute) but on my baofeng uv-82 l hear the alert call (MDC 1200 not muting) is that there is a way to hear this alert call MDC1200 mute on my baofeng uv-82 lik the motorola

No. It's a cheap radio and doesn't have advanced features like that

@foxtrotbravo44955 жыл бұрын
@@rafikrafik305 you can enable DOS in any radio that can handle MDC1200 signalling system. or to say, any radio can send MDC1200 can mute the signalling. like most MOTOROLA, some KENWOOD and HYTERA, ICOM F series etc.

Nice tips Ben. Do you still use zello?
@radiosification5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes I occasionally come online. My username is the same as on here but I usually encourage people to join my channel which is also called radiosification. Are you in the channel already?
@adrn25m5 жыл бұрын
I just added the new channel to zello but it says the password is wrong and your old channel name also says the password is wrong. I am still adrn2012 on zello but you know me as Adrian, or my nickname of “flashlight” in our old zello group and on the radio in the midlands area. Do you still talk to Will?
@radiosification5 жыл бұрын
Are you getting me mixed up with someone else? I don't think I know anybody in the radio world called Will. What is the old zello group you're thinking of? The password for my channel should be digital
@adrn25m5 жыл бұрын
radiosification ok. No problem. If your the Ben I am thinking of, you used live near hinkley and you did the Motorola dp3400 radios for our radio group with Will, Paul, Jeff and me a few years ago.
@adrn25m5 жыл бұрын
That password worked on your old channel called bens channel so I presume you are the person I think you are as you also set up midlands radio Uk channel on zello under your old username as it was set up at the same time.

Hi does that Motorola radio do 6.26khz on analog ?
@foxtrotbravo44955 жыл бұрын
No. Normally 25kHz and sometimes 12.5KHz in analog depending how you programmed it. In my XTS5000 there is three options: 25K, 20K and 12.5K.
@radiosification4 жыл бұрын
6.25 KHz on FM is never used. The options are usually wide(25KHz) and narrow (12.5KHz). Digital modes can be 6.25 like dPMR and NXDN. DMR is 6.25e (equivalent) because it uses 12.5 but 2 timeslots
