@Tony_Jeffries My mistake is the lack of precision with my strikes. I have all the form and technique down but I can never perfectly hit the same target with the perfect ram's head of the fist. I always get the ring and pinky finger in there and feel a weakness and recoil in my wrist that is sapping the power at the moment of true impact during connections. I can feel my knuckles falsley sliding away from the point I aim for, like a bad glancing strike. I need stronger wrists and technically precise punches. Until I perfect my aim and targeting, my form is useless. Thanks for another great video Tony. I had to replay this one a LOT to figure out what I'm missing and why I still can't get the same power as you. You are seriously another level. ❤

@johnabrossimow hmm maybe but I'd still put my money on Tony I think. 🤔 I mean what's the use of all that "intelligence" if it can't translate it to the physical world via a physical body as infinitely complex and purpose-suited as the human kind? (Especially the Tony kind! :)) Have you seen those latest Ai robot humanoid things? They can barely move or stand up let alone box well or translate any martial art knowledge into physical action, losers. I reckon I could probably take one of them out even! (Unless they do raise a boxing guard and start dancing around like Ali. Then ft , I'm out of there real fast and going to hide in a deep dark cave somewhere far far from any technology lol) Well that was surely the strangest conversation I've had all week! 🤔😄

Any tips on Hitting the heavy bag without gloves? Is it beneficial or should I just stop? I do it like once in a while after my workout sometimes I go full power other times I go like 55ish. Ps once in a while meaning 1-3 week’s apart. I think my punching is okayish since i only rip/rash/peeled my skin twice on my right hand(almost in the same spot) kinda in-between the pinky(mostly) and ring finger knuckle.

People say it's better to use palms to hit in a fight because bare fists are easy to damage, can you comment this? To me it sounds like not an easy technique though, while jabs might be quicker
@blockmasterscott
@blockmasterscott 11 ай бұрын
It depends on the training and conditioning. For example, I’ve trained in Iron Palm conditioning wall with working out on bags filled with sand and pebbles for years, and have done a lot of bare knuckle matches, so I’m good to go with punches. But it takes time though.
@BWater-yq3jx
@BWater-yq3jx 11 ай бұрын
It depends. If fists are flying in a chaotic raging fight, your hands and wrists will be better protected by keeping a tight fist with a straight wrist. Do however, absolutely get used to punching solid objects with your bare hands. An open palm is likely to get your fingers caught and wrist bent back. 😬 And is harder to fit through openings to hit a target. A palm heel strike works well when you have some control of your opponent; say you've moved to his left & grabbed his left arm with your left. You now have a clear path to target and can palm strike to his face/head. Enjoy! 😁

Easy faint: Reach back like you're going for a haymaker, but then throw a mule kick instead with your leading leg. The movement is the same to get in position and the guy will mistake it for a punch instead of a mule kick coming his way and this will have his hands up (mule kick if done right is very fast and very difficult to grab, always kick bellow the waist).
@el_killorcure
@el_killorcure 11 ай бұрын
@@thatoneguybones8036 A mule kick can be thrown just like a side kick (turning 90 degrees only), no need to turn all the way around (180 degrees). The trick is to use your leading leg, not the back one.

I was thinking the other day about why people punch like this and I've come to believe it's actually ingrained in every non-trained human being: it's essentially the way an ape would swing a stick. It really is some weird primordial instinct. Every human has this capacity because it's something we picked up from our less-coordinated ancestors long ago. I don't really think any sort of hominid needs to be trained how to pick up a stick & bash things, but to be able to punch requires a learned, conscious effort. Look at footage of any other primate that is capable of using a weapon and they swing in the exact same way an untrained human will try to throw a punch. Imagine them holding a stick and it looks exactly like they're trying to swing it.

I disagree. Of course thats the textbook-way of boxing you are teaching but several high lvl mma fights were won by a looping non textbook looking punsh landing. There is a big difference between boxing, mma, bareknuckle or street fighting. Such punshes can be faster then you think and cause hughe dmg when they come from an hidden angle. Also experienced ufc fighters do miscalculations and can get caught by something non standard especially in a longer fight with creative styles. In boxing the textbook may be optimal but not nessesairy in street fighting or even high class mma. To do always the "correct " thing in a high class fight without all the big limitations of the gloves, the ring and strict rules can also makeyou very predictable.

There are indeed numerous examples of MMA ko's from overhand rights, with the left hand down and not guarding the chin. However, consider that most of these are successful because the opponent ALSO isn't guarding his chin. The takeaway being that not keeping a good guard is generally a bad idea.
