Howdy hi hi, From a 53 YO man, I say cheers love. On the topic of the video however. Anyone singling out a particular group of people as unneeded. Is simply engaging in hatred. In this case using sexism, which is a tool that does two things for one end. It is used to both express, and inspire nothing more nor less than hatred. What can we do about this? Well first and foremost we can provide no safe space for hate. Which means at best actively challenging assertions that are clearly based in hatred. Reading them the riot act until the behavior stops. This is not always feasible for everyone. However, at a minimum, we can remove ourselves from the equation and deny them the privilege of our audience. As such, much like a falling tree in the middle of the forest with no one around to hear it. Without an audience, such expressions are nothing more than so much useless noise. I hope your day treats you well.

I hate when women like that are making the rest of us look like incompitent idiots that shouldn’t even be driving. It is especially infuriating because I am a taxi driver and listen to women like that and then was this one woman who said gas pumps as mysogenist because it hurts her delicate little hands to hold the pump, wtf! I am 5ft and petite stop your whining! This type of behaviour makes people think we want special treatment.

Though to be fair,,, a lot of the younger generation of men are among the idiocracy also doing this. Just because they are male DOESN'T mean they know how to do basic maintenance on cars. Though it should be part of the driver training course, and a must to pass to get a drivers license.

I'm a woman and I've always looked after my own cars. (Less so now due to arthritis.) I watched that bit and my first thought was "Is she putting wiper fluid in the crankcase?" which is of course exactly what she was doing. You don't need a man to look after your car, but you do need to not be stupid! They have little symbols on the caps now (older cars had labels) to tell you what fluid goes where. And a woman not reading the very fine manual?! That's something the men are suppose to do, not read the manual (although I know many that do).

My dad used to drag race and my uncles built motors and cars from the ground up. So I learned at a very young age basic car maintenance. I think that it should be required to learn the your car's basic maintenance before you get a driver's license. I know how to check my oil, transmission fluid and brake fluid. I know obviously how to check and put air in my tires as well as how much air goes in those tires. When I was 21 I worked at Advance Auto Parts that is where I learned how to replace headlights and tail lights/ bulbs, windshield wiper blades, battery, fuses etc. and right before the pandemic I even worked at a local junkyard in my hometown. By far I am an exception the rule, I am making it a point to teach my children all of these things that I have learned. I refuse to let my children be one of these people.

That...that was just painful to watch. That poor car doesn't deserve that. I also have to point out that there is a blatant man-code violation here. Article I Section IV Paragraph 6 - "All men are required to education their offspring, regardless of gender, in the basics of analytical thought. Failure to do so, which results in the offspring committing an act so stupid as to bring shame upon the man and his family shall require an immediate repentance to any and all men whom have to help the offspring as a direct result of said stupid act. Furthermore said man will be forced to wear a skirt for 6 months." Additionally, I would like to point out the Articles Of Responsibility, amendment 2, "You are responsible for what you put into this world." This, when combined with the previously mentioned man-code violation makes this a most egregious situation that requires the immediate attention of the full man council.

Taught me how to check and change the oil and filter, the brake fluid, radiator, battery, windshield fluid, carburetor filter and spark plugs. Set me up a schedule to check every month, how to change a flat. All before he let me take it back out of his driveway to go home. Helped me know how to look for and maintain my car for years. Now a senior citizen and everything is computerized so care keeps track and tells me. Not much I can do now with my mobility and arthritis problems but I can call my son in law for minor things like tire air and brake fluidor go to the mechanic for computer things and oil changes. Tow trucks are a part of life as I can’t physically change a tire anymore.

As a guy, I learned auto repair from the Idiot's guide to Volkswagen Repair, while going to junior collage. Learned adjusting the valves when cold. Replacing points and plugs. Learned oil changes. Learned how to remove and replace the engine. Starter motor? Read the manual, get tools, lift and separate {the car from the ground), feel in the blind behind for the bolts, remove the wires, replace is the reverse. While dating my wife, I blew a piston outside Casa Grande, Arizona, five hundred miles from home. (It's sixty miles from Gila Bend.) Had my VW camper van towed to town and dropped it in the gravel parking lot of a parts store. Pulled the engine, replaced the piston, put the engine back, and continued on to home. She was parked in the air-conditioned hotel room. No, ladies, you don't need a man. But when there's a spider, or there's a noise downstairs in the dark, or when greasy or dirty or dangerous stuff needs doing, you're going to want someone to do the deed. Electrical? Check. Plumbing? Check. Defense? Check. Financial support? Check. Y'all don't need it, but it's nice to have... So, having lived in the home a guy bought and paid for and repaired, having gone shopping for food with the money he provided, now you want to divorce him and take half of everything? Nah. It's men who don't need women. The risk is too high. So, are you gonna sign that prenup? No? Then we don't need you. The one who doesn't wanna sign the prenup, that's the person in need.

The amount of things she ignored to make that decision (including the cap saying "Oil") is astonishing. She doesn't need a man or a car, she needs a helmet to protect what precious little is left up there.

I don't think cars come with manuals anymore. I could be, and often am wrong. But I think it's now a file in the infotainment system, or possibly a file you can download from the manufacturer. They basically became useless anyway, just a list of warnings and telling you to contact the dealer with any questions.

The cap to the oil has a pictogram of an oil can on it, what did she think that was? She doesn't need a man but she will need a taxi, which will probably be driven by a man.

I know very little about cars. I do tend to rely on my husband who knows quite a bit about them. And even I know you don’t put that there!!!! Ok… maybe it’s just the cars that I’ve owned, but most things are labeled. The dohicky you unscrew, the caps or whatever they’re called, one is labeled oil, one is labeled wiper fluid, and so on and so forth. Also, the containers of oil and other fluids, are also labeled. You almost have to work at it to mess up this bad.

During college in Austin back in the early 80s, I was at a gas station when I saw a woman under the hood of her car, which was obviously overheating. To my disbelief, she leaned her face right over top of the radiator cap and reached to unscrew it. Thankfully, I was able to stop her in time. After I explained, she was reasonably grateful to still have an intact face. 😳😅

Maybe the owner's manual DID tell you those things at one time, like how to adjust the timing or change your spark plugs and what the correct gap should be. Now however, they tell you not to drink the battery fluid.

I offered to help a female college student at U of IL w her oil once. She said I was being chauvinistic and she was fine She was pouring a quart of oil in THE DIPSTICK TUBE after checking it I mean I helped my dad restore classic cars so it was more of an experience thing not chromosomal but hey. I let her waste half her quart on the valve cover and exhaust manifold

As a woman can't say I don't need a man they have strength and knowledge I can't own up too. Just scared of them is all. I was a battered woman men just scares me . At mechanic shops I have my cousin's talk to them. I fear for me and my daughters all the time when men even introduce themselves. Not all men's the same I get that just not ready to trust when I haven't healed completely yet.

I remember once hearing a story about a woman who went into an auto shop looking for a 710 cap. The salesman had no idea what the hell she was talking about - until his dyslexic buddy considered the problem upside-down and got her an oil cap.

I knew a woman like this. Refused to bring cars to shops for oil changes and other service because it was always men just making shit up and ripping her off. One morning, she was on the side of I-10 in New Orleans with her car on fire…engine compartment. Not a single man in the office helped her out. A week later she bought a new car for the first time in her life because men kept selling her crappy used cars…smh. Then she flipped out when she found out that required full coverage insurance as the sales-man did not tell her about that. The insurance alone was kore than her used car monthly payments. I could go on-and-on about how everything in her life was a man’s fault. Don’t miss that trash in my life at all.

I say this as a woman who thinks of herself as very much NOT a feminist: To be fair, I've lived all over this country, and male service mechanics in the south absolutely do try to rip you off if you're a woman. Not all, but MOST. It's really infuriating.

Sad part is that even if she did put oil in the right place, she probably would have filled it up to the top. A *man* a.k.a. Dad told me you don't fill the oil all the way to the top. Because the oil will get hot expand and blow gaskets or something. Does not matter, my dad told me not to do it and that was good enough for me.

So, as it turns out, a man does indeed "assist" in repairing this mistake, and he himself records the reveal so as the shop cannot be blamed for this HIGHLY AVOIDABLE and Destructive error.

Yeah, I’m just a girl too, & cringed as I saw her pour windshield wiper fluid, or coolant where the oil goes. Yeesh. I’m a pretty independent XGen female, but I know the diff between where my oil goes, my coolant, my brake fluid, & my windshield wiper fluid. I can at least check my oil, fill it, change a tire & a battery. I mean, she was all kinds of confident which means she didn’t even check the manual.. or the Internet. I’ve no problem saying I need a man’s assistance, if he can do something I can’t bc I’m not strong enough, or lack the skills he has.. like being a mechanic 😂. Yes I know we have female mechanics, but it’s rare. What I also know, is that this young woman is one.
