Wild Bill! I very much enjoy your videos. Thanks for all of the work you put into them. No, you aren’t too old. I’m 73 and shoot with the Z8 and 180-600mm lens, normally handheld as well. No problem. I’ve been photographing since 1971 and this combination is the best I’ve ever used for birds and wildlife. Since the setup of the Z cameras is very different from Nikon’s DSLRs, I can recommend Steve Perry’s Back Country Gallery KZbin channel as well as his website for his recommendations for optimizing the camera/lens combination for birds and wildlife. It helped me quite a bit. I took a 23-day solo road trip from SE Virginia to Yellowstone and the Tetons last summer to photograph grizzlies, wolves, elk, badgers and everything else out there that crawls, walks, runs or flies and had unbelievably good success. Also, I use an iPad for editing when on the road. Works very well. One thing about this video in which I’m a bit disappointed. I wanted to see you climb back up that hill with two cameras, a selfie-stick and backpack. That would have been a more entertaining sight than watching you slide down! Lol 🤣 Again, thanks for all you do. I appreciate it.

Glad no one was thinking "Hey, let's go out and shoot up that old metal thing some more!" with you sitting in it! lol Interesting video, nicely done.

That hill was a bit much. I’m glad you didn’t wreck yourself or the ole bod. 😮I’ve gone all in on micro 4/3 and ain’t lookin back. It’s so easy to carry one body with a long lens and one for landscape. But, I don’t even scratch the surface on what they can really do. Haha. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Bob! Yeah, my set up is a bit heavier than the last one. I assumed it would be lighter. Oh well. It’s definitely growing on me. I thought about the micro 4/3 OM system but stuck with the Nikon brand.

I really enjoyed your video but please be careful or you are going to hurt yourself. You are definitely not too old for the Z8, I went from a D500 and D850 to a Z9 and a Z6ii and it was the best move that I have made. It takes a little while to get used to the mirrorless cameras but it is worth it just for the focusing with the new technology. As far as the Nikon lens hood I have always found the Nikon has the worst lens hoods possible, especially with the longer lenses. I had to tape the hood on my 200-500 when I had it. I have replaced the lens hoods and caps on my 180-600 and my 800PF with Zemlin hoods and lens caps, they are so much better than the Nikon hoods and caps. I highly recommend Zemlin products, they also make excellent eye cups as well. Happy Holidays and thanks for sharing your video.

Thanks for the kind words. I’ll definitely check out those lens hoods! Happy Holidays!!!

You’re not too old for the Z8, but you are too old to be sliding down the hillside, you better take better care when you are out and about… Stay safe and merry Christmas 🎄

Merry Christmas Bill, and like me you might be getting a little to mature to slide down the hill.
