I was a classmate of Robert since 2nd grade. So quiet, shy and nice. When other kids were wearing bright colored T&C surf shot t shirts he’d be wearing black shirts of obscure bands or simply just a black shirt and jeans. We could only try and understand that his dad was in a band because all of our dads had the usual professions. I’m such a fan of his music and so happy for all his success.

I watch/listen to this almost every day. Every person around me who hears it asks me who it is and says it is beautiful. They are not even aware of the father/son relationship. They just feel it. So, so beautiful.

What I admire is that he can sing this song without breaking down into tears.. I break down into tears.. every time. And Mike died while on tour with him. I am sure he wouldn't have had it any other way if given a choice.

Erin Linderman I am still listening to it and no law of diminishing returns exists. Goosebumps every time. What a voice. It stands by itself. I wish I could sing like that. I admire the way he handles the press as well. I am so glad I was watching the day the tribute show was being shown on a certain cable channel and SO SO happy it is on KZbin. It haunts and then heals and haunts whatever is healed from returning.

Robert, I know it sounds cliched, but I can only imagine MIchael looking down proudly at you while you were playing this beautiful rendition of his song. I've rarely had any song bring out the emotion in me like you did with You Run. Thank you for sharing this amazing moment for the whole world to be able to experience!

Robert......Michael,,,boy he was sure something great.......you and your father has touched all our hearts forever... You may find a better way You may find the reason for it all Say you walked on holy ground Say you heard the sweetest sound of all But you find that you never really cared You find out that you have no love to share at all So you challenge everyone you meet Crying out to fill a void in you What are you running from my love Whats this thing you're guilty of Follow me and never feel accused But you never do believe a word I say And you never did believe there'd be day of reckoning So you run and you run and you run And you never stop And you work and you work Until you drop You're in over your head and the pressure just don't quit But you can't escape the reach of love Faces haunt you in your dreams Struggles of the broken heart I fear Waking from a fitful sleep Dutifully appointments keep Try to hold this image of respect So someone tells you when and where to go But all the time you never really show your feelings So you run and you run and you run And you never stop And you work and you work And you work until you drop You're in over your head and the pressure just don't quit But you can't escape the reach of love The reach of love Ooh of love You may find a better way You might find the reason for it all You may hold a better hand All your pride and understanding Never really feeling love at all But what you thought were distant worlds apart Pulls you in and wraps around your heart forever So you run and and you run and you run And you never stop And you work and you work and you work Until you drop You're in over your head but the pressure just won't quit But you can't escape the reach of love So you run and you run and you run And you never stop And you work and you work and you work Until you drop You're in over your head and the pressure just don't stop So you push and you push and you push Until you drop Oh, you run Oh, you run

This was a legitimate highlight of the reunion show, even though I have to admit that, of the 18 or so tunes they played, the recorded version of this track wouldn't rank among my favorites. I just loved the re-interpretation of it, slowed down and stripped down. It was just executed beautifully.

So I came upon this site just looking at bands I remember form my teenage years, since then I have found a band that I thought was good on MTV, was better than a kid could appreciate. Never knew, and still don't really know from this one song on KZbin, that this is a religious song, but it brings tears to a grown mans eyes that knows how lucky he is.. Both Dad and son rock.
